New Delhi, August 12, 2026: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, and AICC In-charge for Goa Manikrao Thakare met AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the political situation in Goa and the Congress party’s organisational preparedness.
During the meeting, the Goa Congress leaders invited Kharge to visit Goa on August 17, 2026, to address a special organisational meeting involving booth-level workers, Block Committees, frontal organisations and office-bearers of the District and State Committees
Focus on Grassroots Organisation
The proposed meeting is expected to focus on strengthening the Congress organisation at the grassroots level and empowering booth-level workers across the state.
The leaders discussed the need for greater coordination between the State and District Committees, Block-level organisations, frontal organisations and grassroots workers.
The party also discussed its organisational roadmap across all 40 Assembly constituencies of Goa, with an emphasis on building a coordinated political strategy.
Preparing for Upcoming Political Challenges
The interaction with Kharge comes as the Goa Congress intensifies its organisational activities and seeks to strengthen its grassroots network.
According to the Goa Congress leadership, the proposed August 17 meeting will bring together party workers and office-bearers from different levels of the organisation.
The leaders described Kharge’s proposed interaction with grassroots workers as an opportunity to provide motivation and strategic direction to the party’s organisational machinery.
“The Congress in Goa is preparing for a decisive political battle with renewed focus on grassroots organisation, unity and people-centric politics. Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji’s interaction with our dedicated workers will provide tremendous motivation and strategic direction to the organisation,” the Goa Congress leaders said.
Congress Targets Stronger Presence Across Goa
The party leadership reiterated its focus on building a strong, united, disciplined and election-ready organisation across Goa.
The discussions also centred on strengthening coordination among party committees and grassroots workers while developing what the Congress describes as a credible and people-centric political alternative to the BJP government in Goa.
If Kharge accepts the invitation and attends the proposed August 17 meeting, his interaction with booth-level workers is expected to form an important part of the party’s ongoing organisational exercise in the state.
