Actor Sunny Deol gave fans an unexpected dose of nostalgia during a promotional event for his upcoming film Batwara 1947 in Kolkata. During a fan interaction, the actor recreated a popular dialogue associated with the Indian dubbed version of the animated series Oggy and the Cockroaches.
The moment took place during one of the final stops of the film’s nationwide promotional tour, where Sunny Deol was interacting with fans alongside the cast and director Rajkumar Santoshi.
Sunny Deol Says ‘Main Papa Hoon, Duniya Ka Papa’
A fan at the Kolkata event asked Sunny to deliver a popular line from Oggy and the Cockroaches that became widely recognised in India because of the show’s Bollywood-style voiceovers.
The fan requested Sunny to say, “Oye main papa hoon, duniya ka papa”, explaining that the dialogue was associated with a voice style inspired by the actor.
Sunny responded with a smile, saying that he had not watched the animated show but would try the dialogue based on the fan’s request.
He then delivered the line in Hindi and Punjabi in his unmistakable, powerful style, prompting loud cheers from the audience.
The video quickly made its way across social media, with fans and viewers enjoying the unexpected crossover between the Bollywood star and a beloved animated series.
Why Is Sunny Deol Associated With Oggy?
Oggy and the Cockroaches is a Canadian animated series created by Jean-Yves Raimbaud. The show originally aired from 1998 to 2019 across seven seasons.
The series became particularly popular among Indian audiences after Bollywood-style voiceovers were introduced. In India, the character Jack was voiced in a style modelled on Sunny Deol, helping create a strong connection between the actor’s distinctive dialogue delivery and the animated character.
The dubbing eventually became part of Indian pop culture, making Sunny’s surprise recreation particularly nostalgic for fans.

Sunny Deol plays a Muslim man who moves to Pakistan following Partition and discovers that a Hindu woman, played by Shabana Azmi, continues to live in his new home. As tensions escalate, his character takes responsibility for protecting her while also safeguarding his family.
The film also features Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare and Kanikka Kapur.
Batwara 1947 released in theatres on August 14, 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend.
For fans, however, Sunny Deol’s surprise Oggy and the Cockroaches callback has provided an entertaining moment beyond the film’s promotional campaign.
