The wait is finally over. The makers of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana have unveiled the film’s first official trailer, offering audiences a breathtaking glimpse into one of India’s most cherished epics. Released during Brahma Muhurat at 4:15 a.m. on July 30, the four-minute-nine-second trailer introduces Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Raavan, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, setting the stage for an epic battle between good and evil.
Yash’s Raavan Makes a Powerful Entrance
The trailer opens with an imposing introduction to Raavan, played by Yash. Emerging with his face partially covered, he declares himself the ruler destined to reign across the three worlds—Dev Lok, Prithvi Lok, and Paatal Lok.
From the magnificent kingdom of Lanka to the Pushpak Vimaan and spectacular battle sequences, Raavan’s rise to power is portrayed with stunning visuals, making him one of the trailer’s most commanding characters.
Ranbir Kapoor Steps Into Lord Ram’s Role
As darkness rises, the trailer reminds viewers that whenever evil threatens the world, Lord Vishnu takes birth to restore balance. This time, Vishnu incarnates as Ram, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor.
The trailer showcases Ram’s journey from Ayodhya alongside his father King Dashratha, played by Arun Govil, and Queen Kaikeyi, portrayed by Lara Dutta, before fate leads him into exile with Sita and Lakshman.
Ranbir presents a calm, composed, and determined portrayal, gradually building towards his pledge to defeat Raavan.
Sai Pallavi Impresses as Sita
Sai Pallavi leaves a strong impression as Sita, bringing grace, dignity, and emotional depth to the role.
The trailer beautifully captures Ram and Sita’s wedding, their exile into the forest, and several emotional moments that highlight their bond. One of the standout sequences also shows Sita displaying remarkable courage while wielding a weapon.
Supporting Cast Adds Strength
The trailer also offers glimpses of Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Arun Govil in an emotional scene as King Dashratha bids farewell to Ram.
Although Sunny Deol’s Hanuman is intentionally kept under wraps, viewers catch brief glimpses of Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, Vivek Oberoi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and other members of the ensemble cast.
Grand Music and Visual Scale
One of the trailer’s biggest highlights is its background score, composed by A.R. Rahman in collaboration with legendary composer Hans Zimmer.
Combined with state-of-the-art visual effects and large-scale production design, the trailer presents Ramayana as one of the most ambitious Indian cinematic projects ever undertaken.
A Two-Part Epic
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being produced by Namit Malhotra under DNEG and Prime Focus Studios, with Yash also serving as co-producer.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Shobana, Saurabh Sachdeva, Kunal Kapoor, and Faisal Malik.
