Margao, Goa: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) organised an awareness programme on vector-borne diseases at Ravindra Kelekar Dnyan Mandir as part of the nationwide “Safai Apnao, Bimari Bhagao 2026” campaign.

The programme aimed to educate students about the prevention of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, while highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness and eliminating mosquito breeding sites.

A total of 300 students attended the awareness session and actively participated in the programme, demonstrating keen interest in learning about preventive healthcare and community hygiene.

During the session, students were educated on simple yet effective preventive measures, including keeping surroundings clean, preventing water stagnation, using mosquito protection methods, and maintaining proper sanitation both at home and in their neighbourhoods.

The initiative forms part of the Margao Municipal Council’s ongoing efforts to promote public health awareness and encourage community participation in preventing seasonal outbreaks of vector-borne diseases.

Officials emphasised that awareness among school children plays a crucial role in spreading health messages to families and communities, helping build a cleaner, healthier, and disease-free environment.
