Panaji: The Kushavati District Mineral Foundation (KDMF), in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, organised a one-day training programme on STEM Lab equipment and Smart Board usage at Government College, Quepem, on Tuesday.
The initiative aimed to promote the effective use of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) laboratory equipment and Smart Boards in aided high schools located in Goa’s mining-affected regions, thereby strengthening technology-enabled learning in classrooms.
As part of its educational support initiatives, KDMF had previously provided STEM Lab equipment to 10 Government High Schools. To ensure wider access, aided schools have been encouraged to borrow the STEM kits from nearby government schools on a returnable basis, allowing more students to benefit from practical science and technology education.
Around 30 teachers from aided high schools participated in the training programme. The sessions focused on hands-on demonstrations of STEM laboratory equipment and best practices for integrating Smart Boards into classroom teaching.
The training was conducted by expert faculty members from Qurious Mind, Government College, Quepem, and Oozoorba, who guided participants through various modules designed to enhance digital teaching skills and improve classroom engagement.
The programme reflects KDMF’s continued commitment to improving educational infrastructure and promoting innovative teaching methodologies in mining-affected communities, while equipping teachers with the knowledge and confidence to make better use of modern educational technology.
