New Delhi: Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt has extended her support to students protesting at Jantar Mantar over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, adding her voice to growing calls for transparency, accountability, and reforms in India’s examination system.
Taking to Instagram, Bhatt shared an emotional message praising the courage of students who have been protesting for a fair and transparent education system.
“The last few days have broken my heart and then mended it, again and again, with hope,” she wrote.
Bhatt highlighted the sacrifices behind every student participating in the movement, saying that each protester represents not only personal dreams but also the hopes of their families and future generations.
“Behind every student standing their ground is a dream, a family’s hope, a journey of countless sacrifices. They represent not just themselves but everyone who has supported them, while creating a better path for those who will come after them.”
The actor said she was deeply inspired by the determination shown by the students and questioned whether society was truly listening to the voices of young people who will shape the country’s future.
“Their courage humbles me. Their resolve is a mirror held up to all of us, asking whether we are truly listening to the very people who will inherit and shape this country’s tomorrow.”
Concluding her message, Bhatt wrote:
“For the students. By the students. The future is theirs. Jai Hind.”
Growing Support from the Film Industry
Alia Bhatt joins a growing list of film personalities who have publicly expressed solidarity with the protesting students.
Earlier, Salman Khan described the NEET paper leak as a “very serious issue” and said it was heartbreaking that a peaceful student movement had turned violent. He praised students and parents for demanding a better education system.
Several other prominent actors, including Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, Huma Qureshi, Shabana Azmi, Prakash Raj, Chinmayi Sripada, R. Madhavan, Rajkummar Rao, and Anupam Kher, have also spoken in support of the students.
Background of the Protest
The nationwide movement began following the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and has since evolved into a broader campaign demanding reforms in India’s examination system.
Students have called for greater transparency in examinations, stricter safeguards against paper leaks, accountability for examination irregularities, compensation for affected candidates, and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The movement culminated in the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march in New Delhi on July 20, where thousands of students gathered at Jantar Mantar before clashes reportedly broke out after police stopped the procession towards Parliament.
The protest continues to draw nationwide attention, with students insisting that education reforms are essential to restore trust in India’s competitive examination system.
