Almeida High School Marks World Environment Day with Tree Plantation Drive and Environmental Awareness Activities

Ponda, June 27: Almeida High School, Ponda, celebrated World Environment Day with a series of environmental initiatives aimed at promoting sustainability and ecological awareness among students.

The programme was organised in collaboration with JCI Ponda, Berger Paints Goa Factory, and with the support of the Goa Forest Department. The celebrations featured a tree plantation drive, distribution of 100 saplings, and an elocution competition on environmental themes for students of Classes VIII to X.

More than 50 students enthusiastically participated in the activities, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable living.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Adv. Chaitali Agarwadekar, President of JCI Ponda; Mr. Rajesh Naik, Range Forest Officer; Mr. Ulhas Gaude, Forest Guard; Mr. Amit Khanvilkar, HR Manager; Mr. Omkar Vernekar, EHS Manager; Mr. Sachin Kadam and Mr. Debashish Manna, Assistant Managers – Production, along with the Headmaster and teaching staff of Almeida High School.

The programme was organised under the guidance of Mr. Venkata Ramana Dumpala, Factory Head of Berger Paints Goa Factory, whose leadership helped make the event a meaningful initiative for students.

The celebration concluded with an inspiring message encouraging students to become responsible environmental stewards by planting more trees, protecting natural resources, and adopting eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.

The initiative reinforced the importance of collective action in preserving the environment while empowering young minds to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
