Wisdom Superspeciality Hospital’s Blood Donation Camp Inspires 34 Life-Saving Donations in Goa

Miramar, Goa: Demonstrating the spirit of compassion and community service, Wisdom Superspeciality Hospital, in collaboration with Loving Hearts Goa, the MOHAN Foundation, and the North Goa District Hospital Blood Bank, successfully organised a blood donation camp that witnessed an encouraging response from donors.

Held on June 20, the initiative attracted 42 registrations, with 34 individuals found medically eligible to donate blood. The majority of the donors were members of the hospital staff, highlighting their commitment to supporting patients who require life-saving blood transfusions. The camp also welcomed several first-time donors who stepped forward to make a meaningful contribution.

Promoting the Gift of Life

The camp was coordinated by Mr. Chetan, Public Relations Officer of Wisdom Superspeciality Hospital, in association with Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Secretary of Loving Hearts Goa.

Alongside the blood donation drive, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, who also serves as an Organ Donation Ambassador with the MOHAN Foundation, established an Organ Donation Information Desk to educate visitors about the importance of organ donation.

Donors and visitors received informative material and had the opportunity to clarify their queries through interactive discussions.

Mr. Pereira thanked every donor for their generous contribution, explaining that one unit of donated blood has the potential to save up to three lives. He also encouraged participants to consider pledging for organ donation, noting that one organ donor can save and transform the lives of up to eight people.

Raising Awareness Beyond Blood Donation

The initiative focused not only on addressing the continuous demand for blood but also on creating greater awareness about organ donation and encouraging more people to become life-saving donors.

Gratitude to Organisers and Donors

At the conclusion of the programme, Mr. Ranjit Rodrigues, Founder Member of Loving Hearts Goa, along with Mr. Gabriel Pereira, expressed their appreciation to:

  • Dr. Vardhan Bhobe, Director, Wisdom Superspeciality Hospital
  • Dr. Haradatt R. Karande, Chairman, Wisdom Superspeciality Hospital
  • Mr. Chetan, Public Relations Officer

They also thanked the hospital staff who voluntarily donated blood and acknowledged the continued support of the North Goa District Hospital Blood Bank, whose collaboration contributes significantly to community healthcare initiatives.

The organisers described the camp as another important step towards strengthening voluntary blood donation while promoting organ donation awareness across Goa.
