Anjuna Police Conduct Drug-Free India Awareness Programme for Students in Assagao

Assagao, Goa: Reinforcing its commitment to building a drug-free society, Anjuna Police Station organised a Drug-Free India Awareness Programme at DM’s PVS S.M. Kushe Higher Secondary School & Institute of Vocational Studies, Assagao, on July 7, 2026, as part of the nationwide Drug-Free India Campaign.

The awareness session was conducted by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Shri Sahil Vijay Warang following an invitation from the school management and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit.

The programme witnessed the participation of 120 Class XI Science students, along with Principal Shri Rajaram Narvenkar, NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Christina G. Kuriakose, Ms. Ankita, faculty members, and staff.

Educating Youth Against Drug Abuse

During the interactive session, PSI Sahil Vijay Warang highlighted the harmful effects of substance abuse and explained the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

He also educated students about:

  • The dangers of peer pressure
  • Common tactics used by drug peddlers to target young people
  • The importance of making responsible life choices
  • Reporting suspicious drug-related activities
  • Becoming active contributors towards a Drug-Free India

The session encouraged students to remain vigilant and make informed decisions while resisting the influence of drugs.

Interactive Session and Student Pledge

Students actively participated by asking questions and engaging with the resource person during the awareness programme.

The event concluded with all participants taking a pledge to promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society.

Appreciation for Anjuna Police

As a mark of appreciation, Principal Shri Rajaram Narvenkar and NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Christina G. Kuriakose felicitated PSI Sahil Vijay Warang with a Token of Appreciation for his valuable contribution as the resource person.

The school management, NSS Unit, faculty members, and students thanked Anjuna Police Station for its continuous efforts in creating awareness among young people and strengthening the partnership between the police and the community to combat drug abuse.
