Goa University marked its 42nd Foundation Day with a special celebration honouring its academic journey and commitment to excellence in higher education.
The event was graced by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, one of India’s most distinguished nuclear scientists and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, who attended as the Chief Guest.
Dr. Kakodkar currently serves as the Chairperson of the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission and Chancellor of the Homi Bhabha National Institute. He also previously served as the Chairperson of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, playing a pivotal role in India’s nuclear energy programme.
The Foundation Day celebration brought together university officials, faculty members, students, researchers, alumni and distinguished guests to commemorate over four decades of academic excellence, innovation and research.
During the programme, the university reflected on its achievements in higher education, research, skill development and community engagement while reaffirming its commitment to nurturing future generations of scholars and professionals.
Dr. Kakodkar’s presence underscored the importance of scientific research, innovation and technology-driven education in shaping India’s future. His career has been instrumental in strengthening India’s indigenous nuclear capabilities and advancing scientific excellence.
The celebration also served as an opportunity to recognise Goa University’s contribution to higher education in the state and its continued efforts to foster academic collaboration, research and innovation.
As Goa University enters its 43rd year, the institution aims to further strengthen its role as a centre of excellence in education, research and societal development.
