The trailer of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has finally dropped, bringing back the signature chaos, confusion and comedy associated with filmmaker David Dhawan’s classic entertainers. Starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, the film promises a nostalgic blend of romance, misunderstandings and over-the-top comic situations ahead of its theatrical release on June 5.
Directed by David Dhawan, the trailer opens inside a courtroom where Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur’s characters are filing for divorce. During the hearing, Varun’s character passionately explains why he is a loving husband, only for the real issue to surface — his strong desire to become a father.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Varun’s character later meets Pooja Hegde’s character at a club and instantly falls for her. What follows is a whirlwind of lies, hidden relationships and comic confusion as both women eventually end up pregnant, creating complete chaos in his life.
The trailer heavily leans into classic David Dhawan-style comedy, filled with frantic cover-ups, exaggerated situations and awkward close encounters. Several moments strongly remind audiences of the cult comedy Garam Masala, especially scenes where Varun desperately tries to hide one relationship from the other.
One standout moment in the trailer shows him attempting to hide Mrunal’s handbag before Pooja notices it inside the same apartment, instantly escalating the tension and humour.
Adding to the nostalgia factor, the trailer also incorporates iconic songs like Chunari Chunari and the title track Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, bringing back strong 90s Bollywood vibes. Interestingly, the film takes its title from the hit song from Biwi No.1 starring Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Sushmita Sen.
Apart from the lead trio, the film also features an ensemble cast including Maniesh Paul, Chunky Pandey, Jimmy Shergill, Mouni Roy and Rakesh Bedi.
With its colourful visuals, comic confusion and nostalgic musical callbacks, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is shaping up to be a family entertainer packed with classic Bollywood madness.
