NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Scheduled for June 21 After Paper Leak Cancellation

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be held on Sunday, June 21, following the cancellation of the original exam conducted on May 3 amid allegations of a major paper leak.

The decision was taken after investigations revealed that question papers were allegedly circulated through WhatsApp and Telegram groups linked to locations including Sikar and Nashik. The incident triggered nationwide outrage and led to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged malpractice.

According to the NTA, the re-examination has been scheduled with the approval of the Government of India. Candidates who had registered earlier will not be required to apply again or pay any additional fees. Fresh admit cards will be released shortly through official NTA platforms.

The announcement has brought relief to many aspirants seeking clarity on the examination schedule. However, the revised timeline has also created pressure for students, who now have around five weeks to prepare once again for one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations.

Several students and parents have also expressed concerns over travel and accommodation arrangements, particularly for candidates staying in coaching hubs such as Kota. Some aspirants have reportedly requested changes in examination centres due to logistical challenges and concerns over maintaining examination integrity.

The NTA has urged candidates and parents to rely only on official communication channels for updates and avoid misinformation circulating on social media.

The NEET UG examination serves as the gateway for admission into undergraduate medical courses across India and is attempted by lakhs of students every year.
