Alia Bhatt Gives Saree a Cannes Twist With Elegant Ivory-Umbrella Look

Alia Bhatt once again captured global attention at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival with a fresh fashion statement that blended traditional Indian inspiration with international couture aesthetics.

The actor arrived at the French Riviera in a stunning ivory saree-inspired ensemble featuring a structured corset-style bodice and flowing drape detailing. Completing the sophisticated look with a matching umbrella, Alia effortlessly brought a modern twist to classic Indian styling, making her appearance one of the most talked-about fashion moments from Cannes 2026.

Videos of the actor walking gracefully towards the venue quickly went viral across social media, with fans and fashion enthusiasts praising the elegant and experimental styling.

Alia attended the event as part of her ambassador duties for a leading makeup brand and also joined filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker at the Bharat Pavilion during the festival.

The duo unveiled the official poster and creative concept for the 57th edition of the International Film Festival of India, which is scheduled to take place in Panaji from November 20 to 28, 2026.

The event also marked the launch of the India Film Guide, an initiative aimed at positioning India as a major international filming destination while encouraging global cinematic collaborations.

Speaking at the Bharat Pavilion, Alia highlighted the diversity and emotional depth of Indian cinema.

โ€œIFFI has always been a platform that celebrates the diversity of our stories. Being part of this unveiling is an honour, as we invite the world to experience the magic of Indian filmmaking in Goa this November,โ€ she said.

The newly unveiled artwork for IFFI 2026 features a stylised peacock motif, continuing the festivalโ€™s long-standing visual identity rooted in Indian culture and cinematic heritage.

Earlier during Cannes 2026, Alia had already made headlines with her first red carpet appearance in a peach couture gown featuring a plunging neckline and rare coral jewellery.

The actor also used the international platform to speak about women-led cinema and gender representation in the film industry. Addressing conversations around box office trends, she stressed that films should be โ€œgender-agnosticโ€ and centred around storytelling rather than being designed exclusively for male audiences.

Alongside Alia, several Indian celebrities are expected to attend Cannes this year, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Karan Johar, Urvashi Rautela and Tara Sutaria.
