In a major boost for Konkani theatre and literature, Goa Konkani Akademi has announced a special three-day theatre writing workshop aimed at nurturing emerging playwrights and strengthening Konkani literary talent.
The workshop will be held in Porvorim from April 30 to May 2, 2026, in collaboration with Konkani Natak Sangeet Akademi and Thomas Stephens Konkani Kendra.
Acclaimed playwright and director Abhiram Bhadkamkar will mentor selected participants during the workshop. Known for his impactful storytelling and contribution to theatre, Bhadkamkar is expected to guide attendees through various aspects of modern playwriting and theatrical techniques.
The workshop has been specially curated for selected writers who are keen to sharpen their scriptwriting abilities and gain deeper insights into contemporary theatre practices.
Participants will receive hands-on guidance on:
- Playwriting structure
- Character development
- Storytelling techniques
- Modern theatre formats
- Technical aspects of stage production
Organisers said the initiative is designed to encourage fresh voices in Konkani theatre and ensure the continued growth of regional literature and performing arts.
With Goa’s rich theatrical heritage, the workshop is expected to inspire aspiring writers to create impactful stories for the stage while preserving and promoting the Konkani language.
