Sanjay Dutt is all set to revive one of Bollywood’s most iconic anti-heroes. More than three decades after the release of the cult classic Khalnayak, the actor has officially announced its sequel titled Khalnayak Returns.
The big announcement was made during a special event where the makers unveiled the official teaser and poster of the film, instantly creating buzz among fans and cinema lovers.
Taking to Instagram, Sanjay Dutt shared the teaser, marking the comeback of Ballu Balram — a role that remains one of the most memorable characters of his career. The original Khalnayak, directed by Subhash Ghai and released in 1993, also starred Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff and became a massive blockbuster with unforgettable songs and performances.
The teaser offers fans a glimpse into a darker and grittier version of Ballu. In the clip, Sanjay Dutt reminds a man about his dramatic prison escape on October 10 at 10 PM — a callback to the original film.
In a nostalgic moment, Ballu is seen smoking while singing the legendary line:
“Nayak nahi, Khalnayak hoon main…”
The teaser ends with Sanjay Dutt walking away in his signature swagger style while saying:
“Kuch kahaani khatam nahi hoti…”
Director Subhash Ghai confirmed that the script has already been completed. The team is now finalising the cast and crew for the sequel.
The film is being produced by Aspect Entertainment, JioStudios, and Three Dimension Motion Pictures.
Aksha Kamboj, Executive Chairperson of Aspect Global Ventures, stated that the film aims to honour the legacy of the original while creating a story that connects with modern audiences.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt is currently enjoying the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which recently crossed ₹1000 crore at the Indian box office. He will also be seen next in Aakhri Sawal, releasing on May 8, 2026.
With Ballu Balram making a comeback, fans are eagerly waiting to see whether Khalnayak Returns can recreate the magic of the original blockbuster.
