David Dhawan on Advising Varun Dhawan Amid Border 2 Trolling: “This Will Get Over”

David Dhawan has opened up about how his son, Varun Dhawan, handled online trolling during the promotions of Border 2.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, David shared that he reassured Varun during the phase of social media negativity and told him that such criticism is temporary.

“But what happened? Everything turned around,” David said, referring to the film’s box office success after its release. He added that he advised Varun not to take online trolling too seriously, telling him that the same people criticizing him would eventually praise his work.

David also praised Varun’s performance in Border 2 and revealed that he was deeply moved by his son’s acting in the film. He admitted that he got emotional while watching Varun’s scenes and felt proud of his growth as an actor.

Speaking about Varun’s professional journey, David said the actor has matured significantly and is currently on the right path. He also appreciated his humility and respect towards people around him.

Earlier, Varun had responded to trolls on social media with humor after a user questioned his acting abilities. The actor replied by saying that the criticism actually helped make the song from the film go viral.

On the work front, David Dhawan and Varun Dhawan are also collaborating on Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The film is set to release on May 22, 2026.
