Hemophilia Society Panaji Chapter Women’s Group Raises Awareness at Lok Utsav Festival

Written by Intern Rency Gomes ||Team Allycaral

Panaji, January 31, 2026:
The Women’s Group of the Hemophilia Society Panaji Chapter actively took part in the Lok Utsav festival held on January 27, 2026, using the platform to raise awareness about hemophilia — a genetic bleeding disorder that affects the body’s ability to clot blood and requires lifelong management.

Members of the group distributed educational pamphlets and engaged with festival-goers through one-on-one interactions, sharing information on the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options available for hemophilia. Volunteers also spoke about the social and medical challenges faced by individuals and families living with bleeding disorders.

Speaking at the event, Sabina DaCunha, Women’s Wing President of the Hemophilia Society Panaji Chapter, highlighted the critical role of awareness and early diagnosis. She noted that while hemophilia predominantly affects men, women are carriers of the gene and may themselves experience symptoms such as heavy or prolonged bleeding and irregular menstrual cycles. She stressed the importance of testing for bleeding disorders to prevent long-term complications and permanent disability caused by delayed detection.

The Hemophilia Society Panaji Chapter is affiliated with the Hemophilia Federation (India), a national patient organisation supporting over 30,000 individuals across the country. Through advocacy, education and community outreach, the organisation works to improve access to care while reducing stigma associated with bleeding disorders.

Advisor to the Hemophilia Society Panaji Chapter, Prakash Kamat, also addressed visitors during the event. Avelino de Sa, Founder and President of the Disability Rights Association of Goa, and Festakar Marius Fernandes, were present and extended their support to the awareness initiative.

The participation at Lok Utsav forms part of the chapter’s ongoing community health efforts aimed at empowering families with information, encouraging early diagnosis and fostering a more inclusive environment for people living with hemophilia.

Goa to Sign MoU with Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya to Boost Wellness Tourism

In a significant development aimed at positioning Goa as a hub for wellness and holistic health tourism, Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte announced that the State will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with B.S.P’s Gomantak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya & Research Centre (GAM&RC), Shiroda. The MoU is set to serve as an umbrella for future collaborative initiatives in Ayurvedic research, education, and integrative health tourism.

The announcement was made during the 10th Ayurveda Day celebrations, held under the theme “Ayurveda for People and Planet.” The event underscored GAM&RC’s dedication to promoting sustainable healthcare solutions rooted in ancient wisdom, adapted for the modern world.

A landmark moment in the event was the inauguration of Goa’s first Cancer OPD in Ayurveda. This facility opens new avenues for integrative cancer care, where patients can access support that blends traditional Ayurvedic principles with modern medical frameworks. This approach not only addresses physical health but also emphasizes mental and emotional wellbeing, offering a holistic pathway to healing for patients and their families.

Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, the Chief Guest at the event, praised the institute’s legacy of producing over 1,000 graduates and its ongoing contribution to healthcare and community service. Highlighting the institute’s impact on women’s empowerment and Ayurvedic tourism, he emphasized the need for innovation and integration of technology in the wellness sector. “In a developed India, people are actively seeking holistic alternatives. With awareness rising and choices expanding, wellness has become not just a personal goal but a lifestyle,” he stated.

The ceremony was attended by a host of dignitaries including Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Minister for Water Resources and Corporation, who served as Guest of Honour. Other attendees included Dr. Yogesh Bendale of Ayurved Rasayani, Pune, Dr. Sneha Bhagwat, President of Goa Council of Ayurveda, and Adv. Narendra K. Sawaikar, President of Bharateeya Sanskriti Prabodhini, alongside senior faculty of GAM&RC.

The State’s collaboration with GAM&RC is seen as a forward-thinking step to leverage Goa’s natural, cultural, and educational assets in Ayurveda. By integrating traditional knowledge with tourism infrastructure, the government aims to attract both domestic and international visitors seeking authentic, regenerative experiences.

This partnership reflects Goa’s commitment to nurturing skilled Ayurvedic professionals, boosting local employment, and positioning the state as a national leader in wellness tourism—offering much more than just scenic beaches, but a complete ecosystem for healing, learning, and sustainable living.

Barbara Palvin Reveals Endometriosis Diagnosis and Surgery Recovery

Barbara Palvin, the Hungarian model and actor widely admired for her glamour and charisma, recently showed a different kind of strength — by publicly sharing her private health journey with endometriosis. In an emotional and candid post on Instagram, she revealed that after years of suffering from severe menstrual pain, fatigue, irregular flow, and sleepless nights, she was diagnosed with endometriosis and has undergone surgery to treat it.

“For some years now, I’ve been dealing with the difficulties that can come with my periods,” Barbara wrote. “Fatigue, severe pain, heavy and irregular flow, sleepless nights on the bathroom floor. I thought this was just how it works for me.”

She shared that despite regular visits to her gynecologist, her symptoms were never attributed to endometriosis — a condition that often goes undiagnosed due to the limitations of general medical exams. “I thought if I had endometriosis, I would have known about it by now, but as it turns out, endometriosis can’t be diagnosed with general examinations,” she said.

Three months ago, Barbara finally received the correct diagnosis from a specialist and was advised to undergo surgery — a common treatment option for managing the condition. Now on the path to recovery, she reflected on her first pain-free period in years. “Since then, I finally experienced a period that was easier, and now I know the difference,” she shared.

Barbara’s transparency brings much-needed awareness to endometriosis, a chronic condition affecting approximately 1 in 10 women of reproductive age. Caused by tissue similar to the lining of the uterus growing outside it, endometriosis can lead to debilitating pain, infertility, and significant disruption to daily life. According to the CDC, symptoms can include intense pelvic pain, painful periods, painful intercourse, and even bowel or urinary complications.

Her story highlights the importance of trusting one’s intuition when it comes to personal health. “If you suspect that you could have endometriosis, I encourage you to find out. It helped me a lot, and I’m grateful I did it.”

She also emphasized the value of early diagnosis and rest. “Early diagnosis and treatment are very important to prevent long-term complications. That’s also why I took the past three months to rest and fully heal. I’m excited about this new chapter of my life and now ready to get back to work.”

Alongside her post, Barbara shared photos from her hospital stay — including one in a hospital gown and another with visible bandages following her surgery — humanizing a condition that often remains invisible.

Married to actor Dylan Sprouse and admired for her beauty, Barbara’s decision to publicly speak about her health is an act of both courage and solidarity. In doing so, she not only sheds light on the silent struggles of millions of women but also empowers them to seek answers, advocate for their health, and, ultimately, heal.
