Tribal Research Institute Goa Seeks Names of Unsung Tribal Freedom Fighters for Museum Inclusion


The Tribal Research Institute Goa has called upon the public to help identify tribal freedom fighters from Goaโ€™s liberation movement whose contributions remain undocumented. Their stories will be honored in the upcoming Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum at Farmagudi, Ponda. Submissions are open until October 20, 2025.

Goa Launches Whale Shark Conservation Project with โ‚น75,000 Rescue Reward


On International Whale Shark Day, Goaโ€™s Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane launched the Whale Shark Conservation Project in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India, Goa Forest Department, Fisheries Department, and Oracle India. A reward of โ‚น75,000 will be given to fishermen or individuals rescuing and releasing whale sharks and other endangered species.

Goa Government to Honour โ€˜The Monte Cruz Standโ€™ in PJN Stadium, Fatorda


Francisco Monte Cruz (21st March 1945 โ€“ 27th August 2024), the man behind the rapid construction of Goaโ€™s iconic Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, is being honoured by the Government of Goa with a dedicated stadium stand. Built in just 180 days and inaugurated in January 1989, the stadium has since become a major sporting venue. On his first death anniversary, his contribution is commemorated with this fitting tribute under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.
