GCCI Women’s Wing Holds Practical Guidance Session for Food Entrepreneurs at Khandola College

The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Women’s Wing, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera and the Rotaract Club of Government College Khandola, Marcel, organised a practical guidance session for food entrepreneurs at Government College Khandola.

Titled “Practical Guidance for Food Entrepreneurs – Home Kitchens to Thriving Enterprises,” the programme aimed to equip aspiring and existing food entrepreneurs with the knowledge needed to develop home-based food ventures into sustainable, compliant businesses.

The session was led by Mrs. Shruti Siddesh Pilarn̄ekar, Food Safety Officer/Registration Authority for Ponda Taluka, FSSAI, who provided guidance on the regulatory requirements and practical considerations involved in operating a food business.

Focus on Food Safety and Business Compliance

The session covered key aspects of starting a food business, home-based food production, FSSAI registration and compliance, and packaging essentials.

Participants learned about the requirements involved in moving from preparing food at home to operating a more structured business. The interactive format also allowed attendees to clarify doubts and seek guidance on issues relevant to their individual business ideas.

By focusing on practical information and regulatory awareness, the programme sought to help entrepreneurs better understand the steps involved in establishing and managing food ventures.

GCCI Women’s Wing Highlights Entrepreneurial Empowerment

Addressing the gathering, Sandra Fernandes, Chairperson of the GCCI Women’s Wing, highlighted the importance of equipping women and aspiring entrepreneurs with practical knowledge.

She emphasised the value of helping individuals move confidently from informal home-based ventures towards structured and sustainable enterprises.

The programme reflected the importance of combining entrepreneurial ambition with an understanding of food safety requirements, business processes and compliance obligations.

Industry and Academic Representatives Attend

The programme was attended by Gouri Joshi, Vice Chairperson of the GCCI Women’s Wing; Melane Rodrigues, Assistant Director, GCCI; Rtn Colleen Sequeira, President of the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera; Dr Christina D’Souza, Head of the Department of Economics at Government College Khandola; and Vice Principal Dr Dilecta D’Costa.

Faculty members, students and aspiring entrepreneurs also participated in the session.

The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, giving participants an opportunity to raise business-related concerns and receive practical guidance.

Through such initiatives, the organisers aim to support aspiring food entrepreneurs with greater awareness of regulatory requirements and the practical steps involved in turning home-kitchen ventures into sustainable businesses.
