Ten-year-old Amaira Amar Dhumatker is making waves at the ongoing All Goa State Ranking Badminton Tournament, storming into the quarterfinals across three age categories — Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 Girls Singles.
Despite being an Under-11 athlete, Amaira has taken on competitors in the higher age categories and secured her place in the last eight across all three events, showcasing her ability to compete beyond her age group.
Her performances in the Under-15 and Under-17 Girls Singles have particularly grabbed attention, with Amaira upsetting seeded players in straight-set victories. The results have highlighted her composure and competitive ability against older opponents.
The tournament is being organised by Radiant Sports Club, Ponda, in association with the Goa Badminton Association (GBA) and the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG). The tournament is being held from September 23 to 25, 2026.
Amaira’s run across three categories has added an exciting dimension to the tournament, as the young shuttler continues to test herself against older and more experienced competition.
With quarterfinal action now ahead, all eyes will be on the 10-year-old as she continues her campaign across the three age groups.
Her performances underline the growing depth of young badminton talent in Goa and the opportunities provided by state-ranking competitions for emerging players to compete at a higher level.
