Ahmedabad: Goa reached 143 for five in reply to Chhattisgarh’s first-innings total of 330 on the second day of the Gujarat Cricket Association Under-23 multi-day practice match at the Gujarat College Cricket Ground ‘A’ in Ahmedabad on Monday.
Goa still trail by 187 runs, with only one day remaining in the match.
Resuming their innings at 210 for four, Chhattisgarh added 120 runs before being bowled out for 330 in 96.2 overs. Shashwat Sharda (67) and opener Shobhit Sharma (68) struck half-centuries for Chhattisgarh.
Off-spinner Rudresh Sharma was Goa’s leading bowler, finishing with four wickets for 118 runs. Left-arm spinner Anuj Yadav claimed three wickets for 82 runs, while Rahul Vishwakarma and Fardin Khan picked up one wicket each.
Goa endured a difficult start to their reply, slipping to 13 for two. Aman Dhooper (30) and Dishank Prabhu Misquin (33) then steadied the innings with a 53-run partnership for the third wicket.
Goa captain Aryan Narvekar held firm at the other end and remained unbeaten on 53 at the close. He faced 77 balls and struck five fours and two sixes.
Chhattisgarh left-arm spinner Manraj Singh Dhillon was the standout bowler for his side, claiming all five Goa wickets to fall, finishing with five for 53.
With Goa ending the day on 143 for five, the team will need to close the 187-run first-innings deficit on the final day.
