Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Creates Box Office Buzz Before Release, Day 1 Advance Booking Nears ₹50 Crore

Yash-starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ is already creating a strong buzz at the box office even before its theatrical release. The Geetu Mohandas directorial, which is scheduled to hit theatres on August 26, has recorded an impressive response in advance bookings despite receiving an A certificate.

According to the advance booking figures cited in the report, ‘Toxic’ has crossed the ₹40 crore mark when blocked seats are included. The current tally stands at around ₹41.03 crore, while the actual booked gross is approximately ₹31.89 crore, with nearly 8.94 lakh tickets sold across 17,692 shows.

The numbers could increase further as bookings are yet to fully open in several markets, particularly in Telugu-speaking regions.

Karnataka leads the advance booking race

Karnataka remains the strongest market for the Yash-starrer. The film has recorded around ₹17.31 crore including blocked seats in the state, with Bengaluru alone contributing approximately ₹10.67 crore.

Mysuru has also shown an encouraging response, recording around ₹1.06 crore with 88 per cent occupancy.

Strong response in Hindi markets

The Hindi version is also contributing significantly to the film’s advance sales. The film has reportedly generated more than ₹15.5 crore from 2D shows, with premium formats such as IMAX, 4DX and Dolby Cinema adding to the overall tally.

Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune are among the key markets showing early traction.

Premium formats add to the excitement

‘Toxic’ is also attracting audiences to premium viewing formats. In Bengaluru, the Kannada IMAX version has reportedly generated around ₹85.91 lakh including blocked seats, while the 4DX version has added approximately ₹27.73 lakh.

The film’s overall real occupancy is currently around 32 per cent, leaving considerable scope for the advance numbers to rise as more shows and seats become available.

Can ‘Toxic’ touch ₹50 crore in advance bookings?

With confirmed bookings already nearing ₹32 crore and the tally crossing ₹41 crore when blocked seats are included, ‘Toxic’ is heading towards a potentially massive opening day.

If bookings accelerate across the remaining markets in the final hours before release, the film could potentially approach the ₹50 crore mark in Day 1 advance sales.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. The film releases in theatres on August 26, 2026.
