Sikeri, Mayem, Bicholim: A two-day Rangoli workshop and competition was organised at the Sikeri Goshala Hall in Sikeri, Mayem, with an aim to promote and preserve the traditional art of Rangoli.
The workshop was jointly organised by the Sikeri Mayem Farm Foundation and the Gomantak Gausevak Mahasangh. Held from 9 am to 5 pm, the programme attracted 65 participants, who received hands-on training in the traditional Sanskar Bharati style of Rangoli.
The workshop was conducted by Rangoli instructor Mohan Khavnekar, along with assistants Deepalaxmi Asgaonkar and Chaitrali Asgaonkar. Participants were introduced to different Rangoli techniques, patterns and designs, with live demonstrations forming an important part of the learning process.
The enthusiastic participation over both days reflected the interest in traditional Indian art forms and provided participants with an opportunity to develop their creativity and skills.
A certificate distribution ceremony was held on the concluding day, with certificates presented to participants who successfully completed the workshop.
Rangoli Competition Showcases Creativity
Following the workshop, a Rangoli competition was organised exclusively for the participants at the Sikeri Goshala Hall.
Participants put their newly acquired skills into practice, creating a variety of colourful and intricate Rangoli designs.
The winners were:
- 🥇 First Prize: Sayika Naik – ₹3,000, Trophy and Certificate
- 🥈 Second Prize: Kalpana Volvoikar – ₹2,000, Trophy and Certificate
- 🥉 Third Prize: Manvi Jalmi – ₹1,000, Trophy and Certificate
- First Consolation Prize: Sunita Gawander – ₹500 and Certificate
- Second Consolation Prize: Avni Vaigankar – ₹500 and Certificate
The organisers congratulated the winners and appreciated all participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
The workshop and competition provided a platform to learn, practise and celebrate the traditional art of Rangoli, while encouraging greater appreciation for indigenous artistic traditions in Goa.
