Kerala: Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) Martyn Day has tied the knot with his wife, Nithin Chand, at the famed Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, fulfilling her long-cherished wish to have their wedding ceremony at the historic shrine.
The traditional wedding ceremony was held at Guruvayur, with close family members and friends of the couple in attendance. A traditional celebration was later held at an auditorium in the temple town.
An SNP politician, Day also shared photographs from the traditional Guruvayur wedding on his Facebook page, offering a glimpse of the special occasion.
Nithin, a native of Pampakuda in Ernakulam district, moved to the United Kingdom in 2008 for higher studies. It was during her time in the UK that she met Martyn Day, according to family sources.
The couple had previously married in the United Kingdom. However, Nithin had long wished to solemnise their marriage at Guruvayur, one of Kerala’s most revered pilgrimage destinations.
That wish was delayed for several years due to circumstances including the devastating Kerala floods and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The couple eventually fulfilled the long-awaited wish with a traditional ceremony at the Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, bringing together their personal journey across Kerala and the United Kingdom in a celebration rooted in tradition and family.
The wedding has drawn attention not only for the couple’s international connection but also for the significance of fulfilling a long-held family and cultural wish at one of Kerala’s most iconic temples.
