New Delhi: Air India’s flagship Maharaja Lounge at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport has been honoured with the prestigious Gold award for “Airport Lounge Opening of the Year” at the FAB 2026 Awards, held recently in Bengaluru.
The FAB Awards, organised annually by The Moodie Davitt Report, are regarded among the leading global recognitions for excellence in airport food, beverage, lounge and hospitality experiences.
The Maharaja Lounge emerged as the winner in a category featuring some of the most innovative and luxurious airport spaces launched across major aviation hubs worldwide. The recognition highlights the lounge’s architecture, hospitality, dining experience and service standards.
Spanning approximately 16,000 square feet, the Maharaja Lounge has been designed to offer distinct spaces catering to the different needs of modern travellers. Guests can work, dine, relax and unwind in dedicated zones designed around a blend of heritage-inspired warmth and contemporary elegance.
The lounge includes expansive Business and exclusive First Class sections. Conceptualised by globally renowned design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates, the interiors feature curated furnishings, circadian lighting, artworks celebrating Indian culture and a design language aligned with Air India’s refreshed brand identity.
Among the lounge’s distinctive spaces are The Aviators’ Bar, The Globetrotter’s Study, the Serenity Area, the Crystal Bar and dedicated Sleep Suites. Together, these spaces aim to provide premium travellers with a range of experiences, from focused work and relaxation to social interaction and fine dining.
Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India, said the recognition marked a proud milestone for the airline and acknowledged the contribution of its employees, partners and customers.
The award also represents an important milestone in Vihaan.AI, Air India’s five-year transformation programme focused on building a world-class airline experience while retaining the warmth of Indian hospitality.
As part of its broader transformation journey, Air India is focusing on fleet modernisation, new aircraft, upgraded cabins, refreshed food and beverage offerings and improved customer experiences both on the ground and in the air.
The Gold award for the Maharaja Lounge further reinforces Air India’s efforts to elevate its premium hospitality experience and establish new benchmarks in Indian aviation.
