Singer and actor Selena Gomez is facing a lawsuit from investors who allege that her mental health-focused startup, Wondermind Global, failed to deliver on several promises made to them.
The lawsuit was filed in federal court in Delaware on Thursday. According to the investors, they put nearly $1.2 million into the company after being told that Gomez would play an active role in developing and promoting the business.
Investors Allege Promises Were Not Fulfilled
Wondermind was launched in 2021 with the aim of helping users strengthen what the company described as their “mental fitness.”
According to the lawsuit, investors believed Gomez would be actively involved in the company’s development as its head of marketing, leveraging her enormous social media following and public profile to help build the brand.
The plaintiffs claim that several promised initiatives failed to materialise, including the development of a mobile application.
The lawsuit alleges that Gomez agreed to contractual obligations but did not fulfil them.
Claims of Financial and Operational Problems
The investors have also alleged that Wondermind faced broader operational difficulties.
According to the filing, the company allegedly struggled to meet basic business obligations, including making timely payments to employees and vendors.
The plaintiffs claim they were not aware of the extent of Wondermind’s reported difficulties until an online news report highlighted the company’s troubles in September 2025.
They are now seeking to recover their investments, along with legal costs.
Selena Gomez Yet to Comment
A representative for Selena Gomez did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the lawsuit.
The allegations contained in the lawsuit have not been established in court, and the case remains ongoing.
Gomez, who has built a major career across music, television, film and beauty, co-founded Wondermind as part of her broader interest in mental health awareness.
The legal action now places renewed attention on the challenges faced by celebrity-backed startups and the expectations investors may have when public figures play prominent roles in building and marketing new ventures.
