Panaji, August 8, 2026: A Cyber Awareness Session was conducted at People Higher Secondary School, Panaji, on August 8, 2026, with around 250 students participating in the programme.
The session was conducted by Cyber Yoddha Rohan Kolkar of Goa Police, along with Police Constable Hitesh Talwar, with the objective of creating greater awareness among students about the growing risks associated with the digital world.
Focus on Cybercrime Prevention
The programme focused on key aspects of online safety, including cybercrime prevention, online scams, social media safety and the responsible use of digital technology.
Students were sensitised to the importance of staying alert while using online platforms and recognising potential cyber threats.
The session also highlighted the need for responsible digital behaviour, particularly as young people increasingly use smartphones, social media platforms and online services for education, communication and entertainment.
Encouraging Safer Digital Habits
With online scams and cyber-related crimes becoming an increasing concern, awareness programmes at educational institutions play an important role in helping students understand how to protect themselves in the digital environment.
The interaction provided students with an opportunity to learn about common cyber risks and the importance of adopting safe and responsible online practices.
The participation of around 250 students reflected the importance of cyber awareness among the younger generation.
The initiative by Goa Police underlined the need for continued digital safety education to help students navigate the online world with greater awareness, caution and responsibility.
