Panaji: The Goa Cricket Association’s (GCA) Under-23 cricket team has commenced its pre-season training camp in Delhi as the young cricketers gear up for the upcoming domestic season.
The specialised training programme has been designed to enhance the players’ fitness levels, technical abilities and overall match preparedness through structured and intensive sessions.
The camp is being conducted under the guidance of a dedicated coaching and support staff team. Avadoot Amonkar has been appointed as the Head Coach, while Aditya Naik is serving as the Fielding Coach.
The support team includes Deepak Sahu as Strength and Conditioning Coach, Vivek Kumar Mishra as Physiotherapist, Joshua Talwar as Team Masseur, and Gautam Komarpant as Team Manager.
The Delhi camp is expected to provide valuable exposure to Goa’s emerging cricketers while helping them develop the skills and discipline required for competitive domestic cricket.
The Goa Cricket Association has emphasised the importance of creating a professional training environment to nurture young talent and prepare players for upcoming BCCI domestic competitions.
Speaking about the initiative, GCA President and former Ranji player Mahesh Dessai said that the focus is on ensuring every player is prepared to meet the challenges of the domestic season.
“Our objective is to ensure that every player is well prepared to meet the demands of the domestic season. This camp provides an excellent platform for the boys to enhance their skills, improve their fitness and gain valuable experience in a competitive environment. We are committed to nurturing young talent and building a strong future for Goa cricket,” he said.
GCA Secretary Tulsidas Shetye highlighted the association’s commitment towards providing young cricketers with quality coaching, facilities and support systems.
“The Association remains focused on providing our young cricketers with the best possible training facilities and support staff. This pre-season camp is an important step in their preparation, and we are confident the players will benefit immensely from the exposure and structured coaching,” he said.
The camp marks another step in Goa Cricket Association’s efforts to strengthen the future pipeline of talented players and build a competitive cricketing ecosystem in the state.
