Borimol, Goa: United Brothers, owned by Adv. Pankaj Dabholkar, were crowned champions of the All Goa Advocates 9-A-Side Football Tournament after defeating Strikers in an exciting penalty shootout at the SAG Ground, Borimol, Quepem.
The tournament, organised by the United Goan Advocates Association under the leadership of Adv. Vinay Patkar, witnessed enthusiastic participation from advocates representing different parts of Goa, promoting friendship, fitness, sportsmanship, and unity within the legal fraternity.
Thrilling Final Decided on Penalties
The championship clash lived up to expectations as both United Brothers and Strikers displayed attacking football throughout the contest. At the end of regulation time, the teams were locked at 2-2, forcing the match into a penalty shootout.
A crucial equaliser from Alphy D’Souza kept United Brothers in the game before they held their composure in the shootout to secure the championship.
Pernem Team Impresses on Tournament Debut
One of the standout stories of the tournament was the outstanding performance of the Pernem team, making its debut in the competition.
Led by Adv. Ronit Naik, the team impressed players and spectators alike with fearless, attractive football, earning widespread appreciation despite missing out on the title.
Prosecutors FC Applauded for Sportsmanship
Prosecutors FC emerged as one of the tournament’s most disciplined teams, earning praise for their teamwork, commitment, and exemplary sporting spirit throughout the competition.
Individual Awards
The tournament also recognised outstanding individual performances.
- Golden Glove Award: Shivam Kalangutkar (United Brothers) for exceptional goalkeeping performances.
- Golden Boot Award: Alphy D’Souza (United Brothers), who finished as the tournament’s highest goal scorer after scoring the vital equaliser in the final.
The coveted Champions Trophy was proudly lifted by Adv. Vinayak “Mama” Porob on behalf of United Brothers amid loud cheers from teammates, fellow advocates, and supporters.
Celebrating Unity Through Sport
The two-day football tournament successfully brought together advocates from across Goa beyond the courtroom, fostering stronger friendships, healthy competition, and teamwork through sport.
The organisers thanked all participating teams, referees, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for contributing to the success of the tournament and expressed hope that the competition would continue to grow in the coming years.
