Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) has facilitated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Zycon ReNew Energy Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Zuari Foods and Farms Pvt. Ltd., and the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Old Goa, to promote sustainable and science-backed agricultural practices in Goa.
The collaborative research initiative aims to study the impact of organic manure on crop growth, productivity, soil fertility and long-term soil health. The project will also explore opportunities for product diversification, including the development of granulated organic manure and Phosphate-Rich Organic Manure (PROM) formulations.
Zycon ReNew Energy produces organic manure rich in organic matter and essential plant nutrients. Through its circular economy approach, the company converts agricultural by-products into value-added organic manure, supporting sustainable agriculture and natural farming practices while helping improve long-term soil health and farm productivity.
A spokesperson for Zycon ReNew Energy stated that the partnership with ICAR-CCARI marks an important milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and scientific validation of innovative organic inputs. The spokesperson added that the organic manure developed by the company has significant potential to enhance soil health, improve crop productivity and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. The study is expected to provide farmers with credible scientific evidence regarding the benefits of environmentally friendly organic inputs.
Speaking on the collaboration, GCCI President Ms. Pratima Dhond said that industry-academia partnerships are essential for strengthening Goa’s agricultural economy. She noted that scientific validation of organic inputs would encourage farmers to adopt climate-resilient farming practices while creating new opportunities for local enterprises. GCCI, she added, remains committed to fostering partnerships that promote sustainable industrial and agricultural growth in the state.
ICAR-CCARI is one of India’s leading agricultural research institutions, recognised for its pioneering work in improving agricultural productivity and sustainability in coastal regions. The collaboration reflects a shared vision of promoting climate-resilient farming practices, sustainable nutrient management and environmentally responsible agriculture.
Zycon ReNew Energy continues to invest in innovative solutions focused on the bioutilisation of agricultural residues, renewable energy and organic soil amendments, contributing towards a greener and more sustainable future for agriculture in Goa and across India.
Established in 1908, GCCI is the apex body representing trade, commerce and industry in Goa. The chamber actively promotes industry-academia collaboration, policy advocacy and sustainable business practices aimed at driving economic growth and development in the state.
