Taleigao, Goa: St. Michael Higher Secondary School, Taleigao, observed World Environment Day on June 11, 2026, with an awareness programme organized by the school’s Eco Club to promote environmental consciousness among students.
The programme commenced with a prayer rendered by Hajira of XI Arts A, setting a reflective tone for the event. Falak of XII Arts B efficiently compered the programme and guided the proceedings.
The highlight of the event was an informative session by renowned environmental expert Dr. Nitin Sawant, who delivered a thought-provoking talk on the topic “Biodiversity and Its Conservation.” During his address, Dr. Sawant highlighted the significance of preserving biodiversity and stressed the urgent need to protect ecosystems and natural resources. He encouraged students to actively participate in conservation efforts and adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Mrs. Afshan Sayed emphasized the importance of environmental responsibility and sustainable living. She encouraged students to cultivate eco-friendly habits and contribute meaningfully towards building a greener and healthier future. She noted that collective efforts and conscious choices can play a crucial role in safeguarding the environment for future generations.
Students from XI Arts A and XI Arts B participated enthusiastically in the programme, demonstrating keen interest in environmental issues and conservation initiatives.
The event was successfully coordinated by the Eco Club in-charge teachers, Tr. Nirmala and Sir Lakhan, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
The World Environment Day observance served as an inspiring platform for students to understand the importance of biodiversity conservation and reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens dedicated to creating a sustainable future.
