Bhooth Bangla has been generating strong buzz ever since its theatrical release, largely due to the much-awaited reunion of superstar Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan after a gap of 16 years. While the horror-comedy continues to entertain audiences in cinemas, fans are now eagerly waiting for its OTT release.
According to multiple media reports, streaming giant Netflix has acquired the digital rights for the film. The platform’s association with the movie was also reportedly revealed in the opening credits shown during theatrical screenings.
Although the makers have not officially announced the exact streaming date yet, Bhooth Bangla is expected to arrive on Netflix sometime between May 29 and June 12, 2026, following the standard six-to-eight-week theatrical release window adopted by most Bollywood films.
Set against a spooky supernatural backdrop, Bhooth Bangla follows the story of Arjun, played by Akshay Kumar, a London-based man who returns to his ancestral village of Mangalpur ahead of his sister’s wedding.
However, what begins as a simple family visit soon turns terrifying when Arjun discovers a chilling legend surrounding Vadhusur, a demonic force believed to abduct newlywed brides as part of an ancient curse haunting the village.
As mysterious incidents begin unfolding, Arjun takes it upon himself to confront the evil entity and protect his loved ones from the deadly curse.
Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Mithila Palkar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu and late veteran actor Asrani in important roles.
Blending Priyadarshan’s trademark comedy style with horror elements, the film has managed to create excitement among fans of the genre, especially viewers nostalgic for the filmmaker’s earlier collaborations with Akshay Kumar.
