Ranveer Singh visited the revered Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru on Tuesday amid ongoing controversy surrounding his mimicry of Rishab Shetty’s iconic Daiva performance from Kantara Chapter 1 at the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025.
The actor was spotted sitting on the temple floor and offering prayers quietly during his visit. The temple trip comes shortly after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him over a separate dispute related to his reported exit from Don 3.
Ranveer’s temple visit also fulfils part of the assurance submitted before the Karnataka High Court during proceedings linked to the Kantara controversy.
The issue began after Ranveer performed an exaggerated imitation of Rishab Shetty’s Daiva act during IFFI 2025 in Goa. During the segment, the actor reportedly referred to the Daivas as “ghosts,” sparking outrage among sections of the public who accused him of hurting religious sentiments connected to the traditional Bhoota Kola ritual represented in the film.
Following complaints, a Bengaluru-based lawyer filed an FIR against the actor. Ranveer later approached the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of the case.
Responding to the backlash earlier, Ranveer issued a public apology and clarified that his intention was only to appreciate Rishab Shetty’s powerful performance in the film.
“My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did,” Ranveer had stated.
He further added, “I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”
During court proceedings in April, Ranveer’s counsel had informed the court that the actor was willing to visit the Chamundi Hill temple as a gesture of respect and apology. However, his affidavit mentioned that fixing an exact date would depend on his professional schedule and security arrangements.
Meanwhile, Ranveer has also been making headlines after FWICE recently announced a non-cooperation directive against him over the ongoing Don 3 dispute with producers. The actor has not publicly commented on the latest development.
