Two decades after the release of Fanaa, actor Kajol took a nostalgic trip down memory lane and shared behind-the-scenes memories from the making of the blockbuster romantic thriller co-starring Aamir Khan.
Celebrating the film’s 20th anniversary, Kajol posted a series of throwback pictures from the shoot and reflected on one of the toughest experiences during filming in Poland. The actor revealed that while temperatures dropped to a freezing -27 degrees Celsius, she had to shoot in a thin chiffon salwar kameez while most of the crew stayed bundled up in heavy winter clothing.
Sharing her memories on social media, Kajol wrote, “20 years to Fanaa.. my daughter was 2 and a half years old and I was ——— but what I remember most was Poland in all its glory.. -27 degrees Celsius, beautiful forests and sleds used on sidewalks..! And of course the fact that I wore a thin salwar kameez while most everyone else was dressed in goose down… what a blast from the past!”
Directed by Kunal Kohli and produced by Yash Raj Films, the 2006 film became both a critical and commercial success. The film featured Aamir Khan as a charming tourist guide who secretly lives a double life as a terrorist, while Kajol played the role of a visually impaired Kashmiri woman who falls in love with him.
Apart from Kajol and Aamir, the film also starred Rishi Kapoor, Tabu, Kirron Kher and Sharat Saxena in pivotal roles. Child actor Ali Haji portrayed the son of Kajol and Aamir’s characters in the film.
Known for its soulful music, emotional storytelling and memorable performances, Fanaa continues to remain one of Bollywood’s most loved romantic dramas. Songs like “Chand Sifarish,” “Mere Haath Mein,” and “Dekho Na” are still celebrated by fans even today.
Kajol’s latest recollection has reignited nostalgia among fans, many of whom called the film one of the finest performances of both lead actors’ careers.
