The much-awaited Drishyam 3 finally released in theatres on Thursday, May 21, coinciding with superstar Mohanlal’s 66th birthday. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the third installment in the iconic thriller franchise has already created massive excitement among audiences and box office trackers alike.
According to reports, the film had already earned nearly Rs 35 crore through advance bookings before release. Ticketing platform BookMyShow reportedly saw more than 5 lakh tickets sold ahead of opening day, making it one of the biggest Malayalam film pre-sales ever, second only to L2: Empuraan.
The makers also shared that globally, over 10 lakh tickets were sold prior to release, indicating extraordinary anticipation surrounding Georgekutty’s comeback.

The combination of franchise nostalgia, strong advance bookings, positive reviews and Mohanlal’s massive fan base has helped the film dominate theatres across Kerala and overseas markets.

Ahead of release, Jeethu Joseph requested fans not to reveal spoilers online. Sharing a note from the production house, he urged audiences to let others experience the mystery and suspense in theatres.
The film continues the story after the events of Drishyam 2, where Georgekutty and his family narrowly escaped exposure. Whether the franchise will continue beyond the third chapter remains unknown.
