UP CM Yogi Adityanath Declares ‘Krishnavataram Part 1’ Tax-Free in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has granted tax-free status to the recently released film Krishnavataram Part 1, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announcing the decision after attending a special screening at Lok Bhavan on Sunday.

Directed by Hardik Gajjar, the film released on May 7 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. The mythological drama stars Siddharth Gupta, Sanskruti, Sushmitha Bhatt and Nivaashiyni Krishnan in lead roles, alongside Jackie Shroff and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal performances.

The special screening was attended by several dignitaries including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary and other ministers and public representatives.

According to official statements, the auditorium echoed with chants of “Krishna-Krishna” and “Radhe-Radhe” during the screening, reflecting the emotional and devotional atmosphere surrounding the film.

Speaking on the occasion, Yogi Adityanath praised the film for presenting the life of Lord Krishna from a human perspective while depicting the Dwapar era, Indian traditions and Sanatan culture on a grand cinematic scale. He also noted that the film beautifully portrays the stories of Radha, Rukmini and Satyabhama.

The Chief Minister further announced that special screenings of the film would be organised across districts in Uttar Pradesh to help children and youth connect with Indian culture and heritage.

Governor Anandiben Patel also appreciated the initiative and said more films rooted in Indian culture and traditions should be encouraged. The occasion held personal significance for her as her granddaughter, Sanskruti, portrays Satyabhama in the film.

Following the announcement, the makers expressed gratitude on social media, thanking the Uttar Pradesh government for supporting a film that celebrates India’s heritage and spiritual legacy.

Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart (Hridayam) is the first instalment in a planned three-part franchise exploring different dimensions of Lord Krishna’s life — from devoted lover and wise strategist to warrior and king.

The trailer of the film was earlier launched at significant spiritual sites including Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, Raman Reti Temple, Radha Rani Temple, Prem Mandir and ISKCON Vrindavan, adding to the devotional appeal surrounding the project.
