Manipal Hospital Goa marked World Liver Day on April 20, 2026, with a comprehensive awareness initiative aimed at educating the public on the importance of liver health and preventive care. Centred around this yearโs theme, โSolid Habits, Strong Liver,โ the programme emphasised the role of consistent lifestyle choices in maintaining long-term well-being.
The event brought together doctors, healthcare professionals, and members of the community to highlight the increasing burden of liver-related diseases and the urgent need for early detection and intervention. As part of the initiative, the hospital introduced a dedicated Liver Day Health Check Package designed to encourage individuals to take proactive steps towards monitoring their liver health.
The package includes essential diagnostic services such as Liver Function Tests, HBsAg rapid testing, HCV antibody testing, ultrasound scans of the abdomen and pelvis, along with a gastroenterology consultation, offering a comprehensive approach to screening and evaluation.
Speaking on the occasion, Hospital Director Surendra Prasad underlined the importance of awareness and early action. He noted that liver health plays a crucial role in overall wellness and stressed the hospitalโs commitment to empowering people with knowledge and tools to prevent liver diseases through timely interventions and lifestyle changes.
The clinical perspective was led by a panel of specialists including Dr. Rohan Badave, Dr. Gaurish Borkar, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, and Dr. Jacob George. The experts highlighted that many liver conditions are preventable and manageable if identified early, urging individuals to adopt healthier habits and undergo regular health check-ups.
The initiative reflects Manipal Hospital Goaโs continued focus on community outreach and preventive healthcare, reinforcing its mission to promote wellness through education, early diagnosis, and accessible medical expertise.
