Visa and HDFC Bank have jointly unveiled a limited-edition FIFA World Cup 2026 Pixel Credit Card along with a nationwide ‘Spend & Win’ campaign, aimed at bringing football excitement closer to Indian consumers through everyday transactions.
The announcement was made at a launch event in Mumbai, attended by former England striker Michael Owen. The newly introduced card is a variant of HDFC Bank’s existing Pixel Play digital credit card and features FIFA-themed branding. It is available to current Pixel Play users via the PayZapp app, as well as new customers applying through the bank’s official website, with issuance having begun on April 11.
The accompanying ‘Spend & Win’ campaign extends across HDFC Bank’s entire card portfolio, including credit, debit, business, and forex prepaid cards. Customers can unlock rewards through eligible transactions, with prizes ranging from FIFA World Cup 2026 match packages and themed staycations to official merchandise and shopping vouchers.
The initiative is backed by Visa’s global partnership with FIFA, reinforcing its strategy to enhance fan engagement through financial products. According to Visa India Country Manager Rishi Chhabra, the campaign is designed to make the global football spectacle accessible to a wider audience, beyond just premium cardholders.
HDFC Bank’s Group Head of Branch Banking and Payments, Ashish Parthasarthy, highlighted that the offering integrates sports engagement into daily digital payments, targeting India’s growing base of football enthusiasts, particularly among younger, urban consumers.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the largest edition of the tournament, featuring an expanded 48-team format and hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. While India will not be participating, the country’s football fanbase continues to expand, making such initiatives increasingly relevant in connecting global sporting events with local audiences.
