Panaji witnessed an impressive display of young cricketing talent as Shree Damodar Vidyalaya English High School clinched the state title in the Under-14 tennis ball cricket tournament at the Mini Secondary School Sports, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
In the final played at Campal, Panaji on Friday, Shree Damodar Vidyalaya registered a convincing eight-wicket victory over Shrimati High School, showcasing composure and skill in both bowling and batting departments.
Batting first, Shrimati High School managed to put up 45 runs in their allotted six overs. Sathvir and Tanishq were the top contributors with 14 runs each, while Sai added 8 runs to the total. However, disciplined bowling from Shree Damodar Vidyalaya restricted the opposition from accelerating. Ansh delivered a standout performance, claiming two crucial wickets, while Usman Ghani chipped in with one wicket.
Chasing a modest target, Shree Damodar Vidyalaya approached the innings with maturity and control. Usman Ghani provided a steady start with 10 runs, setting the tone for the chase. Captain Rumaan Mulam then anchored the innings with a composed unbeaten knock of 27 runs, guiding his team towards victory. Ihtesham supported well, remaining unbeaten on 8 runs as the team comfortably reached 46 runs to seal the title.
Despite efforts from Shrimati High School bowlers Tanishq, Soham, and Sai, the low target offered limited scope to mount a comeback. Shree Damodar Vidyalayaโs all-round performance ultimately secured them the championship, marking a proud moment for the school in state-level school sports.
