🌍 Mormugao Port Authority Celebrates World Environment Day 2025 with Tree Plantation Drive “Aavaychi Bagh”

Mormugao, Goa | June 5, 2025 — Marking its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development, the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) celebrated World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 with a heartfelt and symbolic tree plantation program themed “Aavaychi Bagh”, which translates to “Mother’s Garden“.

This initiative underscores the Port’s dedication to both ecological balance and cultural values, by encouraging the act of planting a tree as a tribute to one’s mother—a gesture rooted in reverence for both nature and nurturing.

🌱 A Meaningful Start to a Greener Tomorrow

The plantation drive was inaugurated by Dr. N. Vinodkumar, IPoS, Chairperson of MPA, who planted the first sapling to commence the ceremony. He was joined by Dy. Chairperson, MPA, Heads of Departments, senior officials, port employees, and staff from Adani Mormugao Port Terminal Ltd., who participated enthusiastically in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vinodkumar emphasized the importance of environmental awareness in industrial and maritime operations. “Our commitment to growth must go hand-in-hand with our responsibility to the environment. Aavaychi Bagh is not just a plantation drive, but a tribute—to nature, to motherhood, and to the future of our planet,” he said.
