Vedanta Sesa Goa Boosts Women Participation in ITI through Scholarships


Vedanta Sesa Goa-Value Added Business (VAB), continues to drive meaningful change by promoting education and empowering women both in the workplace and society.

Recognizing the need to support women to pursue skilling in technical fields, VAB has provided scholarships to 11 girls to pursue ITI courses in Diesel Mechanic, Electrical, Instrument Mechanic, and Machinist at Sesa Technical School (STS). The initiative is part of Vedanta Sesa Goa’s Project ‘Vriddhi’ and is aligned with the aims of the recently launched #IronLadiesIndia’25 campaign, which aims to enable women such that they are able to maximise their potential & contribute to the fullest to the goals of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. This is the third iteration of the #IronLadiesIndia campaign.

The scholarships have been instituted in 2023 and women trainees identified for the scholarship are being provided regular mentoring and guidance so that thy can fully benefit from the course curriculum. As part of their orientation process, they also interacted with Mr. Saptesh Sardesai, CEO, VAB, and Ms Leena Verenkar, Head CSR, Sesa Goa and were provided valuable insights which will help the trainees be better prepared and industry-ready. The trainees also interacted with several other Vedanta executives and benefited from a free-flowing exchange of ideas.

Speaking on the occasion, Saptesh Sardesai, CEO- VAB said “At VAB, we believe that education and skill development are key drivers of empowerment, especially for young women aspiring to build careers in technical fields. Through our scholarship programs, we are creating opportunities for these talented individuals to break barriers and thrive in industries traditionally dominated by men. It is inspiring to see their determination, and we remain committed to fostering an inclusive and skilled workforce for the future.”

Many of these young women are the first in their families to receive formal technical education, making their achievements a testament to resilience and progress. They expressed gratitude for the initiative, which is not just supporting their academic journey but also empowering them with the skills and confidence to build independent, successful careers in industries.The STS reconfigured its curriculum to include courses for women in 2023 and the first batch of women trainees passed out in 2024, with a 100% pass result.

Ms. Afsana Patvi, Scholarship awardee for pursing Machinist course said “It was a wonderful experience to sit and have an interaction with the senior management where great insightful discussions took place. It is very inspiring to see the journey they have covered, and we are motivated enough to aim for the best ahead. Vedanta Sesa Goa’s #IronLadiesIndia’25 to Leverage ‘Shakti se Pragati’


In a powerful testament to women’s resilience and progress, and as part of its initiatives to mark the International Women’s Day, Vedanta Sesa Goa has launched the #IronLadiesIndia’25 initiative. Woven around the theme ‘Shakti Se Pragati’, this year’s campaign, will be about enabling women to realise their potential & fostering a more equal and empowered society.

The campaign builds upon its previous iterations, #IronLadiesIndia & #IronLadiesIndia2.0 which successfully & impactfully brought together women within Vedanta Sesa Goa and from within the communities on a common platform and helped spotlight their achievements & those who have been role models for the society in general. The initiatives were widely acclaimed, winning several national and international level accolades.

The #IronLadiesIndia’25 campaign aims to create conducive conditions & an enabling environment which will facilitate women to realize their full potential and leverage it towards crafting a vibrant & successful future for the organisation, communities and contribute to building a #ViksitBharat. This aligns with the vision of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble PM of India, wherein a progressive environment for women contributes directly to the strength and empowerment of the Nation.

This year’s campaign aligns with the United Nations’ International Women’s Day theme: “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” Embracing this global call, #IronLadiesIndia’25 will feature an array of digital and on-ground engagements across Vedanta Sesa Goa’s locations in India and overseas.

Vedanta Sesa Goa Partners Lions Club of Bicholim on National Youth Day for the 8th Edition of the ‘Republic Run’


12th December 2025, Bicholim, To commemorate National Youth Day, Vedanta Sesa Goa has partnered with the Lions Club of Bicholim to conduct the 8th Edition of the ‘Republic Run’ at Bicholim. This highly anticipated event aims to promote awareness about fitness, a love for the outdoors, and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle. The ‘Republic Run,’ instituted in 2016-17, has grown from a participation of around 200 avid runners to an expected turnout of 800 enthusiasts this year. The current edition is scheduled to take place on 12th January 2025, starting at 5:45 a.m., coinciding with National Youth Day and celebrating its theme, “Youth Empowerment for Nation Building.”

The ‘Republic Run 2025’ is being organized in three different categories: 2 km (for children aged 8-13 years), 3.5 km (open category for all above 13 years), and 10 km (open for all above 13 years). All participants will be provided with T-shirts, certificates, and medals. The event is being coordinated by the Lions Club of Bicholim President, Lion Rajesh Karapurkar, and Mr. Azad Kadkade.
