GTDC to Host Monsoon Trekking Expedition to Tonir Cascade on September 28

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is offering adventure and nature lovers a rare opportunity to explore one of Goa’s lesser-known natural gems — the Tonir Cascade in Sattari. Scheduled for September 28, 2025, this monsoon trekking expedition is designed to showcase the lush beauty of the Mhadei region during its most vibrant season.

The trek spans approximately 8 kilometers, and is a blend of light adventure and accessible terrain, suitable for all fitness levels. Participants will make their way through scenic forest paths, wade across rain-fed rivers, and navigate natural obstacles such as fallen tree trunks — all adding to the sense of immersive exploration. The trek is expected to take around 1.5 hours of brisk walking one way.

The final reward is a view of the stunning Tonir Cascade, tucked away deep within the forest, and especially majestic during the monsoon season. The journey is as much about the path as the destination, with opportunities to engage with Goa’s rich biodiversity and undisturbed natural environment.

Participants will depart from Paryatan Bhavan, Patto, at 8:00 AM, with transportation included in the ₹1400 registration fee. The trek is open to individuals of all ages who are passionate about nature, eco-tourism, and offbeat travel.

GTDC has issued a list of recommended essentials for the trek: an extra set of clothes, waterproof rainwear, sturdy trekking shoes, snacks, and binoculars for wildlife spotting. For safety and to preserve the ecological integrity of the area, smoking and alcohol consumption will not be allowed during the expedition.

This monsoon trek offers a structured and safe experience for anyone eager to discover the unspoiled monsoon landscapes of Goa while supporting sustainable tourism.

Chirag Datta Naik Leads Youth Trek to Chandreshwar Parvat to Promote Fitness & Nature Awareness

Margao | August 4, 2025: In a refreshing and impactful initiative, Chirag Datta Naik, Congress leader from Margao, organised a community trek to Chandreshwar Parvat aimed at encouraging youth to adopt a more active and health-conscious lifestyle. The event, held on Sunday, brought together 25 enthusiastic participants eager to escape screens and experience the lush Goan landscape during the monsoon.

The group assembled at the Chandreshwar Temple Arch at 7:00 AM, beginning their trek through vibrant green trails surrounded by nature’s tranquility. The event was designed not just as a physical activity, but also as a platform for youth engagement, personal growth, and environmental appreciation.

Participants were provided with custom trekking T-shirts and refreshments, adding an element of camaraderie and shared identity to the experience.

The trek was led by experienced trekker Rahul Prabhudesai and coordinated by Raunak Nargundker, ensuring that all logistics and safety protocols were handled seamlessly.

A Call for Healthier Lifestyles

Speaking at the event, Chirag Datta Naik emphasised the need to divert young people from sedentary digital habits towards more wholesome, real-world activities.

“Our youth spend far too much time in front of screens. Activities like trekking not only help them discover the beauty of our state but also encourage teamwork, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle. We need to create more such opportunities where young people can step outdoors, connect with nature, and nurture their well-being,” he said.

The trek concluded around 11:00 AM, with trekkers visibly recharged and inspired. Many expressed a desire to participate in similar community-based fitness initiatives in the future.

Chirag Datta Naik shared that this is just the beginning. Plans are in motion to organise regular outdoor events — from treks and nature walks to wellness workshops — all aimed at enriching the lives of Goa’s youth.

Panaji, 10th July 2025 – The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is organising its next Monsoon Trekking Expedition to Charavane in Sattari Taluka on Sunday, July 13, 2025. With the monsoons rejuvenating Goa’s hinterlands, the trail to Charavane offers trekkers an immersive experience through one of the state’s most scenic and biodiverse regions.

Spread across a total distance of 8 kilometres, the Charavane trek offers a blend of natural beauty and adventure. The route winds through lush green forests, flowing streams, and varied terrain that includes steep climbs and slippery rock patches. Trekkers can expect to witness nature in its full glory – from fluttering butterflies and birdsong to breathtaking landscapes untouched by urban noise. This moderately challenging trail is perfect for nature lovers, photography enthusiasts, and those with an adventurous spirit. The trek program is done in collaboration with the Forest Department, Government of Goa & Goa Forest Development Corporation.

The GTDC has made transport arrangements from various parts of Goa to ensure accessibility. Buses will depart from Margao Residency and Mapusa Residency at 7:30 AM, and from Paryatan Bhavan, Patto at 8:30 AM. En route pick-up points include Birla Junction in Verna, Cortalim, Porvorim, Banasthari, and Honda. The registration fee for the expedition is ₹1400 per person, inclusive of taxes. The cost covers transport, breakfast, lunch, and the services of trained professional nature guides who will accompany the group throughout the trek.

Interested participants are advised to carry rainwear, a change of clothes, trekking shoes, snacks, and binoculars to make the most of this experience. Smoking and alcohol consumption are strictly prohibited during the trek. The activity is not recommended for those who are physically unfit, as certain stretches involve steep and slippery terrain.
