MLA Kedar J. Naik Appointed Chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation


Kedar J. Naik, Hon’ble MLA of Saligao, has officially assumed charge as the new Chairman of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). His appointment heralds a new era in Goa’s tourism sector, focusing on Regenerative and Responsible Tourism, community engagement, and sustainable growth.

With extensive administrative experience and a deep understanding of grassroots governance, Shri Naik is expected to strengthen GTDC’s efforts in promoting sustainable tourism infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and developing experiences that preserve Goa’s cultural and natural heritage. His leadership aims to position Goa as a year-round global destination that balances tourism growth with environmental and community welfare.

Speaking on his appointment, Shri Naik said, “I am honoured to take on this responsibility and contribute towards shaping Goa’s tourism landscape in line with our vision for Regenerative Tourism. Our focus will be on improving infrastructure, fostering community participation, and developing experiences that preserve Goa’s heritage while creating long-term benefits for our people.”

GTDC Announces Special Tour for Tripurari Poornima Boat Festival 2025 at Sankhali


The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), in collaboration with the Departments of Tourism, Art and Culture, and Information and Publicity, has announced a Special Tour for the Tripurari Poornima Boat Festival, which will take place on Wednesday, 5th November 2025, at Vithalapur, Sankhali.

Celebrated under the full moon, Tripurari Poornima is one of Goa’s most captivating festivals, blending spirituality, creativity, and tradition. The highlight of the event is the magnificent boat show on the River Valvanti, where intricately decorated miniature boats are released, symbolizing devotion and community celebration. The festival attracts locals and visitors who come together to experience the beauty of Goa’s cultural and spiritual diversity.

Speaking about the event, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, emphasized that Tripurari Poornima embodies the spirit of Regenerative Tourism, where each visitor contributes to preserving Goa’s traditions while enjoying an authentic experience. He invited both locals and travellers to join the celebration and witness Goa’s living cultural legacy.

Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, described the festival as a perfect representation of spirituality and community creativity, while GTDC Managing Director, Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, reaffirmed GTDC’s commitment to curating meaningful tourism experiences that support local engagement and sustainability.

To facilitate easy access, GTDC has organized a special coach tour from Panaji and Mapusa residencies, departing at 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, respectively, and returning from Sankhali at approximately 1:00 AM. Tickets are priced at ₹150 for adults and ₹50 for children (6–12 years). Guests staying at GTDC residencies in Panaji, Mapusa, Miramar, and Calangute who book the tour will also receive a 10% discount on room rates.

The initiative aims to encourage participation, promote local culture, and offer a comfortable, eco-friendly travel experience for visitors and residents alike.

GTDC Upgrades Miramar Residency with Accessible Rooms Ahead of Purple Fest 2025


In the run-up to the International Purple Fest Goa 2025, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has taken a major step forward in creating inclusive hospitality spaces. On Monday, GTDC inaugurated upgraded facilities at the Miramar Residency in Panaji, converting three rooms into specially abled-friendly accommodations.

The inauguration was led by GTDC’s Managing Director, Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, in the presence of General Manager (Marketing/Hotels) Shri Gavin Dias, Deputy General Manager Shri Deepak Narvekar, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Shri Dhiraj Vagle, and Senior Manager Shri Vishesh Naik.

These upgrades aim to provide greater comfort and accessibility for visitors attending the International Purple Fest, which is set to take place from October 9 to 12, 2025. Participants and guests will be hosted across GTDC’s Miramar and Panjim Residencies, both of which are now equipped with rooms designed to support the needs of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

Speaking at the event, Shri Kuldeep Arolkar emphasized that GTDC’s mission is to offer better hospitality while ensuring no guest is left behind. “These upgrades are part of our ongoing efforts to enhance accessibility and provide better hospitality across our residencies,” he noted.

The move aligns with Goa’s larger vision of becoming a Divyang-friendly state, reinforcing the importance of accessible infrastructure in the tourism and hospitality sector. As the state welcomes visitors from across the country and beyond for Purple Fest 2025, these enhancements serve as a testament to inclusive planning, design, and execution.

Goa Tourism Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day at Socorro with Resounding Participation


Socorro, 21st June 2025 – The Department of Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation organized the 11th International Yoga Day in a grand and spirited manner at the Socorro Panchayat Hall, where over 150 participants gathered in a collective embrace of wellness, mindfulness, and community harmony. The celebrations reflected the State’s growing emphasis on integrating yoga and holistic health into its tourism narrative.

The celebrations were graced by the presence of Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte, who emphasized the importance of yoga in promoting holistic health and positioning Goa as a wellness destination. Director of Tourism Shri Kedar Naik, Managing Director of GTDC Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Socorro Sarpanch Smt. Soniya Pednekar, Penha de Franca Sarpanch Shri Swapnil Chodankar, and Zilla Panchayat Member Smt. Kavita Gupesh Naik was also in attendance, along with members of the Socorro Panchayat and officials from the Department of Tourism and GTDC. The inaugural function was compared by Mr. Deepak Narvekar, Deputy General Manager (Marketing), GTDC.

Speaking at the occasion, Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte said, “Yoga aligns with the core values of Goa’s Regenerative Tourism model—restoring balance, enhancing well-being, and empowering communities. Through initiatives like this, we’re not only celebrating India’s rich heritage but also encouraging both locals and visitors to embrace holistic living in Goa’s serene natural surroundings.”

Goa is uniquely positioned to offer mindful, rejuvenating experiences, and we are actively working to create avenues that support year-round wellness-based tourism rooted in local culture and sustainability.”

The event featured a guided yoga session conducted by Mr. Tulsidas Mangueshkar, a Yoga Instructor and Evaluator certified by the Ministry of AYUSH, and Mrs. Pooja Tulsidas Mangueshkar, a certified yoga teacher, drawing participation from diverse age groups and communities. As part of the program, attendees were encouraged to adopt yoga as a daily practice to enhance physical vitality, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

As part of its broader vision, Goa has been actively promoting wellness and spiritual tourism. The State is promoting a slower, more conscious form of travel that nurtures both people and the planet. Initiatives such as the celebration of Yoga Day are a reflection of Goa’s aspiration as India’s premier wellness destination.

GTDC celebrates 43 years of excellence on Corporation Day


: The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) marked its 43rd Corporation Day commemorating over four decades of dedicated service towards enhancing tourism in Goa.

The event was graced by Shri Ganesh Gaonkar, Chairman of GTDC and MLA of Sanvordem Constituency; Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Managing Director of GTDC; Shri Gavin Dias, General Manager (Hotels & Marketing), GTDC; Shri Laxmikant Vaigankar, General Manager (Admin) and President of the Staff Welfare Association, GTDC; Shri Kapil Paiguinkar, General Manager (Finance), GTDC; and Shri Deepak Narvekar, Deputy General Manager (Marketing) and Secretary of the Staff Welfare Association. Several other office bearers and staff members were also present to mark the occasion.

The celebration commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing prosperity and progress. The dignitaries on the dais were welcomed with plant saplings, reinforcing GTDC’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

All 10 GTDC residencies were recognized by presenting Awards Trophies to respective Managers and Staff for their commendable service and achievements. Additionally, members of the Staff Welfare Association were presented with mementos as a token of appreciation for their dedication at the hands of Chairman and Managing Director.

While addressing the gathering Chairman, GTDC, Shri Ganesh Gaonkar stated, “The outstanding performance of our residencies has played a key role in our growth, enabling us to contribute dividends to the government. I urge all teams to maintain their high standards and continue their exceptional efforts.”

Managing Director, GTDC, Shri Kuldeep Arolkar appreciated the staff for their dedication, stating, “Our team’s hard work and dedication have been pivotal in GTDC’s achievements. I encourage everyone to continue working with the same enthusiasm and dedication.”

The celebration also included a variety of engaging games and activities, with spot prizes awarded to participants. The winners of the Paithani competition were felicitated with prizes presented by the Chairman, adding to the vibrant spirit of the occasion.

Treasurer of Staff Welfare Association, Smt. Amita Desai, Member Smt. Deepa Sawjar, and Shri Vinay Majik also assisted to make the event a success.
