Goa Carnaval 2026 Ends on a High Note with Massive Statewide Participation

Department of Tourism, Government of Goa successfully concluded the vibrant celebrations of Goa Carnaval 2026, held across Panaji, Porvorim, Margao, Vasco, Mapusa and Morjim, drawing enthusiastic participation from residents and visitors alike.


Over the multi-city celebrations, the streets of Goa transformed into spectacular avenues of colour, music and movement. Thousands of domestic and international tourists gathered to experience one of Indiaโ€™s most iconic cultural festivals. A notable number of international visitors attended the celebrations, many witnessing the grandeur of Carnaval for the first time, while others returned to relive its unmistakable festive spirit.

The Minister for Tourism, Rohan A. Khaunte, said the successful execution of the festival reflected the collective efforts of artists, communities and government agencies. He highlighted that the large turnout demonstrated Goaโ€™s strong global appeal and its capability to host cultural events of such scale with efficiency and vibrancy. From creatively designed floats to disciplined event management, he noted that Carnaval 2026 set a strong benchmark while ensuring celebrations remained vibrant, safe and memorable.

Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik, emphasised that Goa Carnaval continues to evolve as a flagship cultural offering, strengthening the stateโ€™s positioning as a year-round destination. He added that the enthusiastic international participation reaffirmed the vision of promoting experiential tourism while empowering local talent and communities.

At each centre, the parades were led by the much-loved King Momo, whose ceremonial proclamation set the tone for days of celebration. Elaborately designed floats reflected themes ranging from Goaโ€™s cultural heritage and environmental awareness to social messaging and contemporary creativity, showcasing the imagination and craftsmanship of local artists and community groups.

Traditional folk performances, cultural dances, live music, street acts and choreographed showcases captivated audiences across age groups. The seamless blend of heritage and modern expression reinforced Goaโ€™s identity as a destination offering living culture alongside scenic beauty.

Robust arrangements for crowd management, infrastructure support, safety measures and visitor facilitation ensured smooth and secure celebrations across all centres. As the curtains close on Goa Carnaval 2026, the festival leaves behind lasting memories while reinforcing the stateโ€™s standing as a premier cultural destination on the global tourism map.

Goa Tourism to Mark Shiv Jayanti with โ€˜Shiv Garjanaโ€™ Mega Production and Drone Show


The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa is set to present a grand and immersive celebration of Shiv Jayanti, honouring the life, leadership and enduring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of the 352nd anniversary of his historic coronation. Blending tradition with theatrical excellence and modern innovation, the commemorative programme aims to offer a vibrant cultural experience for the people of Goa.

The celebrations will commence on February 19, 2026 at 9:30 AM at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk near IHM, Porvorim, Bardez, with a ceremonial garlanding of the statue followed by a traditional Dhol Tasha presentation. The programme will be held in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte.

As the highlight of the commemorative events, the Department will stage a mega theatrical production titled Shiv Garjana on February 21, 2026 from 6:00 PM onwards at Shree Bodgeshwar Ground, Mapusa. The large-scale production will feature over 150 artists performing on a specially designed revolving stage, portraying the visionary leadership of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his historic association with Gomantak.

Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte stated that Shiv Jayanti represents courage, foresight and exemplary governance. Through Shiv Garjana, the Department seeks to create a meaningful historical experience that connects especially the younger generation with the inspiring journey of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, while strengthening cultural tourism in Goa.

Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said the programme has been carefully curated to combine historical reverence with contemporary presentation. From the ceremonial tribute in Porvorim to the mega theatrical performance and drone show in Mapusa, the Department aims to offer an enriching experience for citizens and visitors alike.

The evening of February 21 will culminate in a special drone show illuminating the Goan skyline, symbolising the fusion of heritage and innovation. The event is open to the public and entry is free. The Department of Tourism has invited citizens to attend in large numbers and be part of this grand tribute to one of Indiaโ€™s most revered icons.

The honour on behalf of the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, was received by Ms. Swati Prabhu Shastri, currently serving at Goa Sadan on deputation from the Education Department.

Goa Deepens Engagement with Russian Travellers as Delegation Visits Paryatan Bhavan


Panaji, Nov 14, 2025: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, extended a warm welcome to a 37-member delegation from Russia at Paryatan Bhavan as part of their week-long exploration of the Stateโ€™s tourism offerings.

Present for the reception were Director of Tourism Kedar Naik; GTDC General Manager (Hotels & Marketing) Gavin Dias; Assistant Director (Tourism) Jayesh Kankonkar; Assistant Tourist Officer Chitra Vengurlekar; OSD to the Tourism Minister Shawn Mendes; and TCI & SITA Chief Operating Officer Ernest Dias, along with officials and key representatives of the tourism industry.

Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte said Goa enjoys a warm, long-standing relationship with the Russian market, marked by mutual trust and consistent engagement. โ€œWe value this continued interest from Russian travellers. Goa remains committed to offering every visitor a safe, pleasant, and memorable stay,โ€ he said.

TCI & SITA COO, Ernest Dias, expressed optimism that Goa would witness strong tourist arrivals from Ekaterinburg and Moscow for the upcoming season, underscoring the ongoing confidence of Russian travellers in Goa.

As part of the reception, GTDCโ€™s Gavin Dias presented an engaging overview of Goaโ€™s diverse tourism profileโ€”its cultural heritage, vibrant festivals, culinary richness, wellness tourism, adventure offerings, and high-quality hospitality infrastructure.

During their seven-day visit, the delegation will explore a range of experiences across Goa, including spice plantations and iconic attractions, while gaining deeper insights into the Stateโ€™s evolving tourism landscape. The visitors expressed appreciation for the warm reception and showed keen interest in discovering more of what Goa has to offer.

Goa Tourism Welcomes First UK Charter Arrivals for Winter 2025โ€“26 Season


Panaji; November 6, 2025: Goa marked the grand commencement of its Winter 2025โ€“26 charter season with the arrival of TUI Airways flights from the United Kingdom at Manohar International Airport (Mopa).

The first charter from Manchester touched down on November 5, bringing 282 passengers, followed by another from London Gatwick on November 6, carrying 288 passengers. The services were managed under the supervision of Freedom Holidays Pvt. Ltd., significantly enhancing Goaโ€™s direct international connectivity.

With direct routes from Manchester Airport (MAN) and London Gatwick Airport (LGW) to Manohar International Airport (GOX), Goa is now better positioned to welcome travellers seeking cultural, wellness, spiritual, and adventure-based tourism experiences.

Welcoming the flights, Honโ€™ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, said:
