Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce Hosts Inter Higher Secondary Elocution Competition on “AI and the Changing World”

Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Bori-Ponda, successfully organized an Inter Higher Secondary Elocution Competition at the Ponda Taluka level on November 13, 2025, held on the college campus with the thought-provoking theme, โ€œAI and the Changing World.โ€ The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various higher secondary schools across Ponda Taluka, who delved into multiple aspects of artificial intelligence and its growing influence on society.

In his inaugural address, Principal Professor Achut P. Pednekar congratulated all participants and emphasized the increasing relevance of AI in education and professional life. He encouraged students to leverage AI as a tool for personal and academic growth while cautioning against over-reliance to preserve human creativity, critical thinking, and independent judgment.

The competition was judged by Ms. Savari Sainekar, Computer Teacher at M.F.Sโ€™s Higher Secondary School, and Mrs. Sonia Desai, Librarian of the host college. Both judges praised participants for their confidence, well-researched speeches, and eloquent delivery. Ms. Sainekar highlighted that โ€œAI is not something to be feared but a valuable asset that can help us achieve our best potential,โ€ while Mrs. Desai encouraged students to embrace learning as a lifelong journey.

Following a series of compelling speeches, the winners were announced. Mast. Lysander Dias from Smt. Prabhavati Ankush Shirodkar Higher Secondary School secured the First Prize, while Miss Honey Priya from Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s Higher Secondary School was awarded the Second Prize. Miss Isha Borkar, also from Smt. Prabhavati Ankush Shirodkar Higher Secondary School, won the Third Prize, and Mast. Adil Hassan Momin from Dr. K.B. Hedgewar Higher Secondary School received a Consolation Prize. All participants were recognized with certificates of participation for their efforts and enthusiasm.

The programme concluded with Principal Prof. Pednekar once again congratulating winners and participants, reinforcing the importance of using technology wisely. The event was anchored skillfully by Ms. Florencia Souza, College Counsellor, and concluded with a formal vote of thanks and a group photograph, marking the end of an intellectually stimulating and successful event that ignited critical dialogue about the future of AI.

Goa Illuminates with Tradition and Devotion at Tripurari Poornima Celebration in Sanquelim


Vithalapur in Sanquelim transformed into a glowing canvas of devotion, colour, and cultural splendour as Goa celebrated Tripurari Poornima 2025. The annual festival, jointly organised by the Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Department of Art and Culture, and Department of Information and Publicity, drew immense participation from local communities, artists, and visitors from across India and beyond.

The festivities began with a sacred procession dedicated to Lord Shrikrishna, followed by the graceful Palkhi of Shree Vitthal Rakhumai, filling the air with devotional fervour. Cultural performances portraying Goaโ€™s folk traditions received resounding applause, as dancers and musicians showcased the stateโ€™s vibrant artistic identity.

The eveningโ€™s highlight, the traditional Boat Show, illuminated the waters with dazzling, artistically crafted boats, symbolising Goaโ€™s deep connection with its rivers and maritime heritage. The captivating reenactment of โ€˜Tripurasur Vadhโ€™ brought to life the sacred legend of the festival, followed by the release of โ€˜Sarangaโ€™ that lit up the night sky in a breathtaking spectacle.

Honโ€™ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, addressing the gathering, praised the community for preserving Goaโ€™s traditions through creativity and devotion. He announced that the top three winning boats will be preserved and displayed at cultural venues such as Ravindra Bhavan and Kala Academy, offering visitors a glimpse of Goaโ€™s unique craftsmanship. He further encouraged youth involvement in culture, innovation, and research as part of Goaโ€™s vision for Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Goa @2037.

Honโ€™ble Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan A. Khaunte highlighted how Tripurari Poornima enriches Goaโ€™s tourism offerings by connecting travellers to the stateโ€™s riverine heritage and spiritual essence. He reaffirmed the governmentโ€™s commitment to promoting authentic, community-driven cultural experiences.

Other dignitaries, including Dr. Premendra Shet, Shri Kedar J. Naik, and Dr. Chandrakant Shetye, lauded the festivalโ€™s role in uniting communities and uplifting local talent. The GTDC enhanced the siteโ€™s beauty through art and aesthetic improvements, ensuring a welcoming and immersive ambience for visitors.

The Department of Information and Publicity also set up an exhibition showcasing Goaโ€™s infrastructure achievements and cultural milestones, adding depth to the visitor experience.

Raising Light 2025: Goaโ€™s Beloved Charity Gala Returns to Celebrate Giving and Community


The sixth edition of Goaโ€™s much-loved charity celebration, Raising Light 2025, will be held on November 5 at Bottle Bay, Baga, promising an unforgettable evening where music, fashion, and compassion come together to celebrate the spirit of giving.

For years, this vibrant initiative by Ninil Dโ€™Souza has united people under the Goan sky to share kindness and illuminate lives through the power of community. What began as a small gathering has evolved into one of Goaโ€™s most anticipated charity galas, turning philanthropy into a celebration of joy and generosity.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œIlluminating Lives with Every Flame,โ€ captures the essence of Raising Light โ€” where every gesture of giving holds meaning. The event will feature a charity fashion show, gala dinner, cocktails, and live entertainment, bringing together entrepreneurs, Rotarians, artists, and changemakers who believe in celebrating life through compassion.

Dr. Parag Sawant, Monty Sally, COMO, and Pallav Ojha will collaborate to present spectacular fashion segments, with 45 participants walking the runway. Proceeds from the evening will support the National Association for the Blind (NAB), which empowers individuals with visual impairments through education and inclusion.

Adding new depth this year, the Raising Light Awards will recognise organisations and individuals making a meaningful difference in Goa. Each awardee will receive โ‚น50,000 sponsored by philanthropist Francis Viegas to further their social missions. Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou Emphasizes Integrity and Accountability During Vigilance Week 2025


โ€œWorking with honesty and integrity in government is essential to fulfilling the very purpose of celebrating Vigilance Week,โ€ said Chief Secretary Dr. V. Candavelou, speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function held at the Secretariatโ€™s Seminar Hall, Porvorim.

The event, organized by the Directorate of Vigilance, marked the beginning of Vigilance Week 2025 under the theme โ€œVigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.โ€ The observance commemorates the birth anniversary of Indiaโ€™s former Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who championed the values of accountability and service.

Dr. Candavelou emphasized that vigilance aims to ensure good, effective, and corruption-free governance. He noted that the celebration of Vigilance Week provides an opportunity to review policies, reassess administrative practices, and rededicate oneself to the ethical norms of serving people honestly.

In his address, Amarsen Rane, Director of the Department of Vigilance, stated that the government exists to serve people, and that public servants must remain vigilant, guided by conscience and the mission of the administration. โ€œVigilance means keeping a watchful eye on activities of personnel and taking prompt action to promote fair practices and integrity in official transactions,โ€ he said.

Dr. Candavelou administered the oath of vigilance, reaffirming the commitment of all attendees to uphold honesty and transparency in their work. The event also featured a skit presented by artists from the Department of Art and Culture, illustrating the importance of vigilance in everyday governance.

As part of the observance, the Vigilance Department organized several public engagement activities, including skit and poster-making competitions, along with a state-level elocution competition featuring participants from colleges across Goa.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by senior officials including Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Information and Publicity) S. S. Gill, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Revenue) Sandip Jaques, IAS, Secretary (Protocol) Sanjiv Gadkar, IAS, Secretary (Co-operation) Yatin Maralkar, IAS, and other departmental heads and staff members.

Kuwait Unites in Well-Wishes for Ahmed Al-Jarallahโ€™s Recovery After Successful Surgery in France


Kuwaitโ€™s spirit of unity and compassion was on full display as messages of love, respect, and prayers poured in for Ahmed Al-Jarallah, the Dean of Kuwaiti Journalism and Editor-in-Chief of Arab Times and Al-Seyassah newspapers, following his successful surgery in France.

The countryโ€™s leadership, ambassadors, writers, and citizens expressed heartfelt wishes for his speedy recovery. His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad sent a message of congratulations, expressing sincere wishes for Al-Jarallahโ€™s health and wellbeing, while praising his lifelong contribution to Kuwaiti media and culture. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Nawaf also conveyed his blessings and prayers, wishing the veteran journalist continued strength, good health, and success in his work.

Renowned poet and writer Sheikha Dr. Suad Al-Sabah expressed deep gratitude for Al-Jarallahโ€™s recovery, thanking Allah for his safety and commending his decades-long role in shaping Kuwaiti media. Similar messages came from prominent figures including Amir Al-Fahad Al-Malik, Sheikh Khalifa Abdullah Al-Jaber, and journalist Asaad Abdullah Al-Jarallah, who referred to him as โ€œa man of wisdom and insight.โ€
