Goa has earned international recognition as filmmaker Sainath S Uskaikar’s short documentary Waai won the Best Documentary (Short) award at the prestigious New York Indian Film Festival 2026. The film celebrates the legacy of the last four Waai singers from a Muslim nomadic community in Kutch.
