In other Girls Under-12 action, Gargi produced a commanding performance over Maahi to advance to the semifinals. In the Girls Under-16 segment, Gargi continued her impressive run, defeating Bhavya 4-1, 4-0 to book her place in the final.
The Boys Under-12 quarterfinals and semifinals were highly competitive. Kriyansh defeated Arsh 6-2 and Kiran 6-3, while Ethan won against Seth (6-0) and Ivan (6-3). Divyaraj overcame Devaansh 6-3 to secure his semifinal berth. In the Boys Under-16 draw, Shaurya maintained consistency with identical 6-2 wins over Vidaal at both the Miramar club and Panjim Gymkhana courts.
Doubles events also produced decisive outcomes. In the Ladies Doubles quarterfinals, Trisha/Anupama beat Anita/Natalia 6-0, Riya/Unnathi blanked Tomoyo/Aastha 6-0, and Tvisha/Bhavya advanced 6-2 over Nishi/Nidhi. Menโs Doubles quarterfinals saw Parth/Arnav secure a 6-1 victory over Rushil/Shaurya.

In the menโs singles quarter-finals, Ashwin Narsinghani produced a composed performance to defeat Prathamesh Patil 4โ0, 4โ2, while Parth Deorukhakar overcame Maaz Khan 4โ2, 4โ2 to book his spot in the semi-finals. Eshaan Khadeer also advanced after getting the better of Nishad Shevde.
Menโs doubles action saw Maaz Khan and Arnav Bansode progress with a win over Praneeth V and Suraj, while Paul Singh and Nilesh defeated Atharv Paranjpe and Sonu Todu to move into the next round. At the Gymkhana courts, the pairing of Ashwin Narsinghani and Prathamesh Patil stormed into the semi-finals with a dominant 6โ0 victory over Vihaan and Devaansh.

Registrations for the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2026 have officially closed, with the tournament recording a record-breaking 555 entries ahead of its 11th edition, marking a significant milestone in its journey as one of Goaโs most prominent tennis events. Scheduled to be held from January 22 to February 1 at the iconic Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in Miramar, the tournament continues to draw players across age groups and competitive levels.
Jointly organised by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and the Gadre Group in association with the Goa State Tennis Association, the tournament has once again witnessed strong participation across the Open, Junior and Masters categories. The 2026 edition is also notable for the introduction of the ladiesโ doubles category for the first time, adding a new dimension to the competition.
The Open menโs singles category has attracted the highest participation with 111 entries, while the Open menโs doubles event has seen 37 pairs register. The Open ladiesโ singles category has drawn 32 entries, with 14 pairs competing in the newly introduced ladiesโ doubles. The Open mixed doubles segment has recorded 18 teams.
Junior participation has remained encouraging, with 25 players in the boysโ under-16 category and 14 in the girlsโ under-16 event. In the under-12 division, 14 boys and five girls have registered, reflecting steady grassroots engagement in the sport.
The Masters segment has also recorded strong numbers, led by 70 entries in the 45+ menโs singles category, followed by 42 entries in the 60+ menโs singles and 30 entries in the 55+ menโs singles. In doubles, the 90+ menโs doubles category has emerged as the most subscribed with 60 teams, while the 110+ and 120+ doubles categories have recorded 43 and 32 teams respectively. The 35+ mixed doubles event has attracted eight teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanmay Kholkar, Secretary of Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, said the tournament holds special significance this year as it coincides with the centenary celebrations of the club. Goa State Tennis Association President Sameer Kakodkar noted that the rising participation reflects the growing confidence players have in the tournament as a reliable and competitive platform across age groups.
Arjun Gadre of the Gadre Group expressed satisfaction at the sustained interest in the event, stating that the continued growth of the tournament reinforces its relevance within Goaโs sporting landscape. With matches spread over eleven days, the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2026 is expected to deliver high-quality competition and continue its legacy as one of the most keenly followed tennis tournaments in the state.

Panaji, March 2025 – Goaโs vibrant tennis community is in for another exciting spectacle as the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2025 returns for its second edition at the historic Panjim Gymkhana, a sporting landmark established by the stateโs first Chief Minister, late Shri Dayanand Bandodkar.
Building on the success of its debut edition, the tennis event, hosted in partnership with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), aims to inspire local talent, fuel competitive spirit and elevate the sport of tennis in the state to new heights. The much-awaited tournament is scheduled to be held from April 4 to 13.
This year, the tournament takes a major step forward by introducing three exciting new categories. The under-10 (boys and girls) category opens doors for the young, aspiring tennis players, providing them with a competitive platform to develop their game. The ladies doubles category has been added to foster greater female participation and promote gender diversity in the sport. The tournament will also feature wheelchair tennis as an invite-only event, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for athletes with disabilities. This is only the second instance in the state where wheelchair-bound athletes are able to participate in a competitive tennis event.
The tournament continues to offer a diverse range of categories to cater to both juniors and experienced players. The masters categories include masters singles 45+, masters singles 55+, masters doubles 45+ (minimum age 45) and masters doubles 55+ (minimum age 55). The open category consists of under-10, under-14 and under-18 (boys and girls), menโs singles, ladiesโ singles, menโs doubles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles. Participants can register for up to three events, allowing them to maximise their playing opportunities and challenge themselves across different formats.
With registrations now open, the tournament is already witnessing an encouraging response, with over 100 players signing up. Players are encouraged to enroll early to confirm their participation in one of Goaโs most distinguished tennis events, named after the stateโs first chief minister.
“Itโs inspiring to see how tennis has grown in Goa over the years. By introducing new categories, we are ensuring that more playersโwhether young children, women or differently-abled athletesโget a chance to compete and experience tournament-level play,” said Sameer Kakodkar, grandson of late Shri Dayanand Bandodkar and president of GSTA.
Giriraj Vengurlekar, a Director at DB Bandodkar & Sons Group and Bandodkarโs grandson, emphasised the excitement around this yearโs tournament. “The response so far has been overwhelming and it reflects the growing interest in tennis across Goa. We hope this event continues to motivate aspiring players and raise the competitive standard in the state.”
