Goa Carnaval 2025 Draws Global Visitors, Flagged Off in Grand Style by Hon’ble Chief Minister


Panjim, March 1 2025– Goa’s most awaited festival, the Goa Carnaval 2025, was officially flagged off today in a grand ceremony by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, Managing Director GTDC, Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Mayor of Panjim, Shri Rohit Monserrate, Panjim Carnaval Committee, and actress Varsha Usgaonkar. With the legendary King Momo proclaiming his famous decree—”Eat, Drink & Make Merry but Responsibly”—the celebrations commenced, marking the beginning of four days of vibrant revelry until 4th March 2025.

This year’s Carnaval has attracted a significant number of international tourists, with visitors from across the globe gathering in Goa to witness the grand spectacle. The festival’s signature float parade, a mesmerizing display of color, culture, and creativity, set off from Panjim, continuing through Mapusa, Morjim, Margao, and Vasco. Elaborately decorated floats showcased Goa’s rich folklore, traditions, and modern artistic expressions, offering an immersive experience for both locals and global travelers. The streets resonated with flamboyant dancers, street performers, and infectious music, creating an atmosphere of unbridled festivity.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, emphasized the festival’s growing international appeal and its role in promoting Goa’s unique cultural heritage and responsible tourism. “Goa Carnaval is not just a festival; it is a global celebration of our traditions, our people, and our warm hospitality. With visitors from all over the world joining us, we reaffirm Goa’s position as a premier cultural and festival tourism destination, offering much more than just beaches—an experience that blends culture, community, and sustainability.”

Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, highlighted the increasing international footfall at the festival. “Every year, Carnaval attracts a diverse mix of visitors, and this year, we have seen an impressive rise in international tourists eager to experience Goa’s iconic festival. Our focus remains on making such events more inclusive, sustainable, and experiential for all.”

As the streets of Goa come alive with music, dance, and joyous celebrations, the Goa Carnaval 2025 stands as a testament to the state’s rich heritage and its growing global recognition as a cultural tourism hub. With a diverse lineup of activities, including family-friendly events, street plays, and children’s parades, the festival ensures an immersive experience for all, further solidifying Goa’s status as a must-visit international destination.

Raponkarancho Seafood Festival Kicks Off at Arambol Beach


The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa organised The Raponkarancho Seafood Festival commenced on a vibrant note on 13th December 2024 at the scenic Arambol Beach, celebrating Goa’s rich coastal heritage and seafood culture. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Chairman of GTDC and MLA Sanvordem Constituency Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, and Mandrem MLA Shri Jit Arolkar and Director Tourism, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS.

The festival brought together Raponkars (traditional fishermen), dignitaries, and enthusiastic visitors, including foreign tourists, who thoroughly enjoyed the authentic seafood delicacies. Traditional Ghumots were presented to the dignitaries and foreign guests, symbolizing Goa’s cultural pride and warm hospitality.

Day 1 featured an exciting lineup of performances, including the SHINE ON band, Cosmic Sound live set, USMAN, and OG SHEZ, drawing enthusiastic participation from locals and tourists alike.

Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte further highlighted the department’s commitment. “The Raponkarancho Seafood Festival is not just a celebration of our rich culinary tradition but a platform to promote sustainable tourism. It recognizes the vital role of our fishing community in shaping Goa’s coastal heritage. Through such events, the state aims to not only attract tourists but also ensure that our local traditions and communities are celebrated and supported. Events like these help create a vibrant and inclusive tourism ecosystem that benefits the people of Goa.”

Mandrem MLA Shri Jit Arolkar spoke about the cultural importance of the festival, stating, “The festival is a reflection of our cultural identity and gives us an opportunity to showcase the efforts of our fishermen.”

Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Chairman of GTDC, praised the initiative, reaffirming Goa’s commitment to promoting events that celebrate local heritage and traditions.

Director Tourism, Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, added, “This festival showcases Goa’s rich seafood culture and also serves as a platform for community engagement and support for sustainable tourism practices.”

The Day 2 will feature performances by Purple Rain, Gravity Band, DJ Katrin and DJ Ivan, and day 3 will feature performances by The Imperial Band, Forefront as well as DJ Afroz Sayed and Teri Miko.

With an promising start, the festival is set to continue on 14th and 15th December 2024, offering visitors an immersive experience through cultural programs, live performances, and traditional Goan seafood delicacies.
