IFFI 2025: Aakash Kandil, Float Parade & Romtamel Competition Results Announced

As part of the 56th International Film Festival of India 2025(IFFI), Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) in collaboration with the Government of Goa organised Aakash Kandil (lantern-making) competition on 20/11/2025 at ESG promenade.

The competition was open to all the residents of Goa with the maximum cap of 50 entries per Taluka, accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

ESG received total 300 plus entries for the same from different talukas. Each participant received โ‚น500 as a token of appreciation for their effort and creativity. Participants could use any material except thermacol. All the Akash Kandils were kept for dsplay at ESG promenade.

Three winners were chosen from each taluka. The prize money for the competition was Rs. 5000 as first prize, Rs. 3000 as second prize and Rs. 2000 as third prize in each taluka.

Traffic Advisory: Road Closures and Parking Arrangements for IFFI Float Parade and Rehearsals in Panaji

The Panaji Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory for residents and commuters in view of the upcoming IFFI Float Parade and its rehearsal. On 18th November 2025, the stretch of D.B.B. Marg from the old Secretariat to Kala Academy will be closed for vehicular traffic from 15:00 to 17:00 hrs during the parade rehearsal. On 20th November, float assemblies will begin at Merces Junction on Panajiโ€“Old Goa Service Road, with Promotional and State floats assembling near Divja Circle.

All floats will line up at the Starting Point at Old GMC via D.B.B. Marg (left side lane, incoming) from 13:00 hrs. Floats parked at Merces Junction will proceed via KTC Panaji to the line-up area. The parade will culminate near Kala Academy, Campal, after which the floats will be parked at the Football Ground on D.B.B. Marg until further instructions from traffic authorities. In addition, Inox Lane (Gen. Bernard Guedes Road) will remain closed for all vehicular traffic from 20th to 28th November 2025.

For incoming traffic, vehicles entering Panaji during the rehearsal and parade should follow designated diversion routes including the new Patto Bridge via Divja Circle and Dayanand Bandodkar statue, or via the new Mala Bridge for traffic from Bambolim. City buses will be suspended on parade routes during the event. Traffic from Ribandar will be diverted via the Ribandar Causeway and NH-748. Outgoing traffic, including route buses from Miramar, will be diverted via Campal Ganesh/Kala Academy, Fire Brigade Junction, St. Inez, Caculo Island, 18th June Road, and Church Square. Heavy and commercial vehicles are restricted from entering the city between 07:00 and 21:00 hrs, and tourist buses from Dona Paula will be restricted beyond Miramar Circle after 13:00 hrs.

Designated parking zones for vehicles with passes include PVR Inox Multiplex, Kala Academy (S1 & S2 pick-up/drop), and Market Lane (S4 Media). Vehicles without passes will be directed to EDC Plaza/MLCP and KTC Bus Stand for North Goa traffic, and via GMC Bambolimโ€“Goa Universityโ€“Miramar for South Goa traffic. No-parking zones have been declared along Jose Falcao Road, Joao Castro Road, Match Corner to Casa International (M.G. Road), Caculo Island to St. Inez Junction, Church Square to Cortin Foot Bridge, and Down the Road Pub to Match Corner.

Commuters are advised to follow the traffic guidelines, use alternate routes, and plan their travel in advance to avoid inconvenience during the IFFI Float Parade and rehearsals.

Bonderam Festival 2025 Brings Divar Alive with Colour, Culture, and Celebration


Divar Island, 23rd August 2025 – The picturesque island of Divar came alive with vibrant colours, music, and festivities as thousands gathered to celebrate the 41st edition of Bonderam, Goaโ€™s biggest monsoon festival. Organized by the Piedade Youth Association with the support of the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, and the Directorate of Art & Culture, the festival once again showcased Divarโ€™s unique cultural traditions and youthful spirit.

The event was graced by Chief guest Honโ€™ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte as the Chief Guest, MLA Cumbarjua, Shri Rajesh Faldessai as the Guest of Honor, MLA Curtorim, Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Fr Simao Rodrigues Parish Priest of Divar, Fr Leslie Gomes Asst Parish Priest of Divar, Sarpanch Goltim Navelim Divar, Shri Mario Pinto, Director Alcon Victor Group Varun Albuquerque and other dignitaries who joined the people of Divar in celebrating the festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Honโ€™ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte said, โ€œBonderam is a living example of Goaโ€™s vibrant traditions being celebrated with youthful energy. Festivals like these not only preserve our heritage but also strengthen community bonds while drawing tourists to experience Goa beyond beaches.โ€

Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik added, โ€œThe enthusiasm witnessed at Bonderam reflects the true spirit of community-led celebrations. The Department of Tourism remains committed to supporting such festivals that highlight Goaโ€™s culture, promote regenerative tourism, and give visitors a chance to engage with authentic local traditions.โ€

The celebrations began at dawn with the Alvorada, where a brass band marched across the island, setting the tone for the day. By the afternoon, the Traditional Flag March at Divar Center drew in large crowds, reviving the age-old spirit of unity and festivity that the event symbolizes.

Adding to the cultural charm, the All-Goa Fancy Dress Competition at Asilo Grounds delighted audiences with creativity, humour, and flair, while the much-awaited Float Parade saw the island streets transform into a spectacular canvas of colour and imagination.

As evening descended, the celebrations peaked with live entertainment featuring electrifying performances by popular acts including Junktion, 24K India, and headliner Ryan Nogar. Hosted by Ayesha Barretto and Joed Almeida, the event brought together music lovers, locals, and visitors, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness.

With music, dance, and revelry lasting late into the night, Bonderam 2025 once again proved why it continues to be one of Goaโ€™s most iconic and eagerly awaited monsoon festivals.

Goa Carnaval 2025 Draws Global Visitors, Flagged Off in Grand Style by Honโ€™ble Chief Minister


Panjim, March 1 2025โ€“ Goaโ€™s most awaited festival, the Goa Carnaval 2025, was officially flagged off today in a grand ceremony by Honโ€™ble Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with Honโ€™ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, Managing Director GTDC, Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Mayor of Panjim, Shri Rohit Monserrate, Panjim Carnaval Committee, and actress Varsha Usgaonkar. With the legendary King Momo proclaiming his famous decreeโ€””Eat, Drink & Make Merry but Responsibly”โ€”the celebrations commenced, marking the beginning of four days of vibrant revelry until 4th March 2025.

This yearโ€™s Carnaval has attracted a significant number of international tourists, with visitors from across the globe gathering in Goa to witness the grand spectacle. The festival’s signature float parade, a mesmerizing display of color, culture, and creativity, set off from Panjim, continuing through Mapusa, Morjim, Margao, and Vasco. Elaborately decorated floats showcased Goaโ€™s rich folklore, traditions, and modern artistic expressions, offering an immersive experience for both locals and global travelers.
