Goa Deepotsav 2025 to Illuminate the State with Festive Splendour and Cultural Spirit


The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, is set to usher in the festive season with Goa Deepotsav 2025, a spectacular celebration of Diwali that will illuminate the state with colour, music, and cultural vibrance. The festival will span two days across three lively venues — Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal Hall, Porvorim on October 25, followed by Saligao Panchayat Area, Saligao, and Mapusa Taxi Stand Ground, Mapusa on October 26.

The celebrations will commence on October 25 at Porvorim with an exciting line-up of family-friendly competitions and workshops including cooking contests, fugdi competitions, clay modelling, drawing activities for kids, and the much-loved Veshbhusha Spardha (Traditional Costume Contest). The evening will feature a formal function and a soulful musical performance, Sur Taal, graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, and other dignitaries including Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, ZP Smt. Kavita Naik, MLA Shri Kedar Naik, and senior officials from the Department of Tourism and GTDC.

On October 26, the festivities will continue at the Saligao Panchayat Area with competitions such as Veshbhusha Spardha, Rangoli Making, and Cooking Contests, followed by a mesmerizing musical concert, Suron Kee Deepawali. The evening will also see the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, and other distinguished guests.

Later that evening, the celebrations will move to Mapusa Taxi Stand Ground for the grand finale featuring creative contests like the All Goa Akash Kandil Competition, alongside cultural showcases and a musical extravaganza, Rhythm of Lights. The event will host prominent leaders including the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Hon’ble Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, and several MLAs from surrounding constituencies.

Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan A. Khaunte highlighted that Deepotsav reflects the essence of Goa — a land where culture, creativity, and community come together in celebration. He emphasized the role of such festivals in strengthening Goa’s cultural fabric while promoting community-led tourism that preserves Goa’s living traditions.

Echoing his sentiments, Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, stated that this year’s Deepotsav is designed to engage every generation through workshops, performances, and culinary experiences that capture Goa’s inclusive and participative spirit. He added that events like Deepotsav embody the vision of Goa Beyond Beaches, showcasing the state as a destination where culture and creativity shine brightly.

Goa’s Homestay and B&B Scheme Sets a National Benchmark, Inspires Delhi’s Revival of B&B Model


Goa’s Homestay and Bed & Breakfast Scheme, implemented by the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has become a national benchmark in community-based tourism — inspiring states like Delhi to adopt similar frameworks. The scheme’s success lies in its holistic approach that blends financial incentives, simplified registration, and quality standards to strengthen local entrepreneurship and promote authentic travel experiences.

Designed to create meaningful engagement between visitors and local communities, the initiative encourages travellers to explore Goa’s hinterlands while generating sustainable livelihoods for residents. Eligible homestays and B&B operators receive a one-time grant of ₹2 lakh, along with marketing support through official Goa Tourism channels, and access to training programmes aimed at improving service quality and sustainability practices.

The scheme classifies participating establishments under Gold and Silver categories, offering benefits such as residential tariff rates for utilities, ease of licensing, and inclusion in state tourism promotions. It also emphasises empowering women and youth entrepreneurs, ensuring that the growth of tourism extends beyond the coastal belt into rural areas rich with culture and tradition.

Recognising the impact of Goa’s approach, the Delhi government has recently announced plans to revive its long-dormant Bed & Breakfast Scheme using Goa’s model as a reference. This move highlights Goa’s growing leadership in shaping sustainable and inclusive tourism policies at the national level.

Speaking on the development, Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte remarked, “Goa’s Homestay and Bed & Breakfast Scheme has been designed to empower Goans while creating meaningful experiences for travellers. The fact that other states are now adopting our model reaffirms our commitment to building a regenerative and community-led tourism framework.”

Echoing this sentiment, Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, stated, “This initiative makes it easier for Goans to host visitors, earn additional income, and share our culture. By offering financial support, training, and simplified registration, the policy ensures that tourism growth benefits every section of society.”

With its emphasis on authentic stays, local engagement, and responsible development, Goa continues to lead India’s tourism transformation — setting a standard that other states are eager to emulate.

Air India Adds 174 Weekly Flights to Domestic and Short-Haul International Network for Winter 2025


Air India has announced a significant network expansion for the Northern Winter Schedule 2025, introducing 174 additional weekly flights across key domestic and short-haul international routes starting 26 October 2025. The new schedule strengthens connectivity between major Indian cities and Southeast Asian destinations, reflecting the airline’s commitment to offering greater convenience and choice for travelers.

Among the international enhancements, flights from Delhi to Kuala Lumpur and Denpasar (Bali) will each increase from seven to ten weekly services, effective mid-November and early December respectively. Domestically, the expansion focuses on high-demand destinations in Rajasthan, with new routes such as Delhi–Jaipur and Delhi–Jaisalmer, along with increased frequencies on existing routes including Delhi–Udaipur, Mumbai–Jaipur, and Mumbai–Jodhpur. Additional flights are being introduced across Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and other cities including Varanasi, Port Blair, Guwahati, Raipur, and Amritsar.

This growth follows the near completion of Air India’s comprehensive retrofit program for its legacy Airbus A320neo aircraft, launched in September 2024. Of the 27 aircraft, 26 have been completely refurbished with brand-new interiors featuring Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. With this upgrade, Air India now operates more than 100 A320 Family aircraft with enhanced interiors, serving over 80 domestic and short-haul international destinations.

The expansion is part of the airline’s ongoing transformation plan under Vihaan.AI, which aims to rebuild Air India into a world-class global carrier with an Indian heart. The airline, which returned to the Tata Group in 2022 after seven decades of government ownership, continues to evolve under an ambitious five-year roadmap. With more than 300 aircraft in its fleet and an order for 570 new planes underway, Air India is reshaping the future of Indian aviation through network growth, modern infrastructure, and superior customer experience.

As part of the larger Air India Group, which includes the full-service Air India and low-cost Air India Express, the company is leading the next chapter of Indian aviation by expanding reach, enhancing quality, and strengthening India’s position as a global travel hub.

Gurugram to Get 28.5-km Metro Link Connecting Yellow Line and Cyber City


Gurugram is all set to enhance its urban transport network with the development of a 28.5-kilometer elevated metro corridor connecting Millennium City Centre (MCC) on the Delhi Metro Yellow Line to the bustling commercial hub of Cyber City. This ambitious project will feature 27 stations and aims to provide seamless connectivity across key residential, commercial, and industrial zones in Gurugram.

The new metro line will significantly ease traffic congestion along NH 48 by integrating older parts of Gurugram with newer developments like Cyber City and Udyog Vihar. A 1.85 km spur will also connect Basai Village to the Dwarka Expressway, further improving accessibility.

Funded jointly by the central government and the Haryana government, the ₹5,452.72 crore project has received strong backing for its potential to revolutionize urban mobility in the city. Construction is slated to begin in mid-2025, with completion targeted between 2028 and 2029.

The corridor will feature interchange stations at Millennium City Centre and Hero Honda Chowk, providing seamless links with the Delhi Metro Yellow Line. Cyber City station will connect with the Rapid Metro, allowing commuters to switch easily between networks. Additionally, plans are in place to integrate this metro line with the upcoming Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor for enhanced regional connectivity.

From a technical perspective, the metro will employ a 750V DC third rail traction system, known for its safety and operational efficiency, along with a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for real-time monitoring and control.

This new metro corridor is poised to become a vital artery for Gurugram’s transit infrastructure, improving daily commutes, reducing road traffic, and supporting the city’s rapid urbanization and economic growth.

As India’s first state to formally adopt Regenerative Tourism, Goa aims not just to preserve but to actively restore ecosystems, empower local communities, and celebrate its unique spiritual and cultural heritage. This vision is guided by four foundational pillars—People, Community, Environment, and Economy—with a strong commitment to ensuring that tourism benefits everyone, not just economically, but emotionally and culturally as well.

The “Feels Like Goa” campaign is more than marketing—it’s a heartfelt call to travelers to reconnect with the emotions, nostalgia, and magic that make Goa unforgettable. From village feasts and soulful sunsets to the vibrant end-of-year celebrations that define Goa’s festive spirit, the campaign captures what it truly means to experience the state. It reminds global audiences that Goa is not just a location—it’s a feeling of belonging, warmth, and discovery.

At WTM London, the focus will also be on Goa Beyond Beaches—an invitation to discover the lesser-known spiritual trails, heritage circuits, hinterland escapes, and vibrant cultural festivals that lie beyond the coast. Initiatives like the Ekadasha Teertha Circuit aim to draw attention to Goa’s deep spiritual roots while ensuring that local communities are central to the tourism economy.

Culinary tourism will also take centre stage, highlighting Goa’s diverse and storied food culture. With influences from Hindu, Portuguese, Saraswat, and tribal traditions, Goan cuisine reflects centuries of cultural exchange.
